One of my favorite ways to make no bake snacks for Halloween is by using premade products. And when it comes to kid-friendly food, it doesn’t get much better than pretzel sticks and string cheese!
That’s why these quick and easy witch broom pretzels are one of the best Halloween party ideas for kids! On top of being simple to make, they’re sure to be gobbled up no matter when you serve them!
Witches Broom Snacks
To make these easy witch snacks, you’ll start with just two ingredients. After a little bit of cutting and decorating, you’ll be ready to serve your Halloween witch appetizers at your witch themed party!
These cute witches brooms make the perfect thing to snack on while watching Hocus Pocus! To make this easy witch snack, you’ll need:
- String cheese. While technically, you can use any type of cheese you want, I love using string cheese for these snacks. That’s because they come in a nice, round shape, making them perfect for creating brooms. But you could also cut cheese sticks or blocks of cheese to make these cute treats.
- Pretzel sticks. Any type of pretzel sticks will work to make your brooms. You can use regular pretzel sticks or gluten free pretzels!
- Twine. Decorating your witches brooms with twine is a quick and easy way to add a pop of color to your treats. But this part of the recipe is totally optional!
That’s it! All you need are two ingredients to make these quick and easy Halloween treats for your next party.
How to Make Witches Broom Snacks
You won’t believe how simple it is to prepare these simple no bake snacks. That’s because you can make them with just a few minutes of your time and only two ingredients!
Start by cutting your string cheese into three equal pieces. The pieces should be around one to one and a half inches long.
When all the string cheese has been cut into smaller pieces, use your knife to cut small slits around the bottom of each piece. First, cut three small slits in the bottom half of your piece, then rotate the piece on its side and cut two to three more slits.
Make sure to leave the top part of the cheese intact so that it doesn’t come apart when you stick your pretzel into the top.
Now you can start adding your pretzels to the broomsticks. Carefully press the pretzel stick into the top of the piece of cheese, making sure not to push it too far down or the cheese will begin to break apart.
Continue adding your pretzel sticks to the top of your cheese until all your broomsticks have been made.
You can stop putting your broomsticks together at this point, or add a cute decoration with a piece of twine. Simply wrap a piece of twine around the top of the cheese and tie a bow on the front.
Adding a piece of twine is a great option if your cheese happens to break apart after you put the pretzel stick in! Just wrap the broken cheese around the end of the pretzel, then tightly tie the twine around the top of the cheese to hold it in place.
Witches Broom Snack Recipe Ideas
See how simple it is to make your own no bake witch snacks? That means these simple pretzels are going to be your go-to treat to make for all your get-togethers this October — from classroom parties to trick or treating!
These recipe ideas are quick and easy ways to change up your treats to create some adorable snacks for all your Hocus Pocus inspired get-togethers.
- Use different types of cheese. String cheese is always a hit with the kids, but it’s not the only type of cheese you can use to make your witches brooms. You can also cut pieces of cheese sticks or blocks of cheese into brooms using the same method outlined above.
- Make gluten free treats. These snacks can easily be made into gluten free treats by using gluten free pretzel sticks. Any type or variety of pretzel sticks can be used to prepare these easy snacks.
- Skip the twine. Since the twine isn’t edible, you can always leave it off the snacks. The brooms will still look adorable without the bow tied around the top. And if you do serve these treats to kids with the twine attached, make sure to remind them that the string needs to be removed before they start eating!
Can I Make Witches Broom Pretzels Ahead of Time?
These treats are best when eaten right after they’re prepared. That’s because the pretzels tend to get a little soft the longer they sit in the string cheese.
If you want to get part of the recipe ready ahead of time, the string cheese can be sliced in advanced and stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Try to use the cut cheese within 24 hours or it may begin to fall apart.
How Do I Store Witch Broom Pretzels?
While these snacks taste best right after they’re made, you can store any leftovers you have in the refrigerator after you’re finished snacking. Transfer the pretzels to an airtight container and keep them chilled. They’ll stay good for up to four days, although the pretzels will get soft the longer they’re kept in the cheese.

Hi, Thanks for your post! I love holidays like Halloween and Christmas because you can decorate not only your house with various cool things, but also food hahaha, Cool recipe, thank you! I love this. I was just thinking about what to cook for Halloween, because I want to decorate not only the house, but also to eat delicious food, and not just candy and popcorn and Coca Cola. I want to make something else, but I think brooms will be quite enough for watching movies! If you have any more ideas, then I will be glad to read another post! Thanks for sharing.
