What I love about this DIY gift basket is how easy this gift is to make. In fact, the hardest part is picking the stuff to put into the basket and not keeping anything for yourself!
Since this gift basket is so easily customizable, I’ll list what I included in my basket to give you a little bit of inspiration as you put your own DIY gift together. My Rae Dunn gift basket included a:
- Rae Dunn metal basket
- Create coffee mug
- Planner and calendar
- Notes list
- Blessed candle
- Merry Christmas sign
- Mini Christmas tree
- Hot chocolate packets
- Mini chocolate spoons
- Peppermint spoons
As you read through the tutorial, I’ll let you know where I found each item in the gift basket so you can head to those stores to grab your own!
How to Package a Rae Dunn Gift Basket
This farmhouse style gift basket was made using a variety of cute Rae Dunn items. Keep scrolling to see photos of each individual item in the basket so you can head to the store to find your own.
Before adding anything to the basket, I placed some white paper shreds in the bottom. This basket filler will help keep all your items upright at the top of the basket. It also prevents the items in the gift basket from falling down into the bottom, making them hidden from view. I got these white paper shreds for $1 at Dollar Tree.
After filling the basket with paper shreds, I put the largest piece in my gift basket in the back. This Merry Christmas sign came from TJ Maxx. And the basket that holds all the other gift elements is also Rae Dunn. The basket comes in two different sizes — this one’s the smaller version. You can find it at TJ Maxx, too.
Next, I wanted to add a couple different elements to help stay organized in the new year. The first was a long notebook with the word Notes on top. This is perfect for to-do lists and grocery lists! You can get this from the office supply section in TJ Maxx.
Another great item to add to your Christmas gift basket is a planner. This Best Year Ever planner is perfect for keeping track of all your appointments and activities in the new year! You can find Rae Dunn planners in the office supply section of TJ Maxx.
Candles make a great option for a gift basket! I wasn’t able to find any Rae Dunn candles in the store, so I made my own. Check out my DIY Rae Dunn candles to grab a free SVG file to decorate Dollar Store candles to look just like the ones found in department store.
The final element of my gift basket was a mug with hot chocolate supplies. Because you can’t give a Rae Dunn gift without one of her signature mugs! I grabbed a couple of cute hot chocolate packets, some chocolate spoons, and peppermint spoons from Dollar Tree. Then, I repackaged the spoons in clear plastic bags and tied a bow on top. After that, I placed the hot chocolate packets and peppermint spoons inside the mug, then put the chocolate spoons in an open spot in the basket.
After filling in all my Rae Dunn stuff, I still had an open spot in the back of the basket. So, I added a cute mini Christmas tree I found at Hobby Lobby. It’s the perfect filler element to complete the basket!

After downloading your printable tag, print it out on white cardstock and cut the tag out around the outer border. You can simply place the gift tag in the basket or use a piece of ribbon to tie it to the side of the basket.
Before you attach your gift tag to the front of the jar, make sure to sign your name on the back!
Where to Buy Rae Dunn
If you’re going to make your own Rae Dunn Gift basket, you’ll need to find some products to put in it! But finding Rae Dunn items is sometimes easier said than done — especially if you’re new to the RD scene.
Luckily, there are a few different methods for finding Rae Dunn that are pretty easy. As you’re searching for things to put in your gift basket, check out these spots:
- TJ Maxx and Home Goods: One of the best places to look for Rae Dunn pieces is at TJ Maxx and Home Goods. These department stores are the central hub for finding all things RD, making them my first stop when I’m on the hunt for new items.
- Hobby Lobby: A new spot to find RD items is my favorite craft store — Hobby Lobby. While the selection at this store is limited, you can often find seasonal items that would be perfect for your gift basket.
- Amazon: Do a quick search on Amazon and you’ll see that there are several great options to choose from on this site. Just keep in mind that Rae Dunn items sold on Amazon are often marked up, so you’ll probably pay a premium price when shopping on this outlet.
- Antique and second-hand stores: If you don’t have any of these outlets around you, I suggest checking out your local antique and second-hand stores. There are several stores around my area that sell different Rae Dunn pieces. So it would be worth it to start hunting at nearby stores to see if any of the booths stock RD items.
- Facebook Swap: Another great way for finding used or unique Rae Dunn items locally is to search your Facebook Marketplace. Just type Rae Dunn in the search bar in Marketplace to see what items are available near you.
