How to Make Christmas Snack Mix
Before you can start packaging up your gifts in a jar, you’ll need to prepare your snack mix! First, make the sauce, then coat the ingredients and bake until crispy!

The first step to making your caramel snack mix is to prepare the sauce. But before you start heating the sauce ingredients, it’s a good idea to have everything set-up and ready to go. Once the sauce is prepared, you’ll need to work quickly to coat your snack mix ingredients in the caramel.
So, before you get the sauce started, grab two large bowls. Pour the Chex in one bowl. Add the prepared popcorn to the second bowl. Set those two bowls aside while you prepare the sauce.
To make the sauce, add the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt to a heavy sauce pan. Heat the ingredients over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once the butter is melted, heat the sauce another 5 minutes, making sure to stir as the sauce cooks to keep it from sticking and burning.
After that, remove the sauce from the oven and add the baking soda. The sauce will begin to bubble and foam. Continue stirring the sauce quickly until it’s well mixed.

Pour half the sauce over the top of the Chex, making sure to spread the sauce out as much as possible.

Pour the remaining sauce over the top of the popcorn. Carefully stir the ingredients in each bowl until the Chex and popcorn is completely coated in the caramel sauce.

Spred the coated Chex and popcorn evenly over two baking sheets. While the caramel sauce is still warm, decorate the snack mix with some Christmas sprinkles.
Then, place the snack mix in the oven to bake for 1 hour. This will give the carmel sauce time to harden, ensuring your snack mix is crisp and crunchy.

When the cook time is up, remove the pans from the oven and allow them to cool. Make sure the snack mix is cooled completely, then add the M&Ms and mini marshmallows to the pan.
After that you can transfer the snack mix to a serving bowl. Or keep reading to see how to use this Christmas snack mix to make some adorable gifts for the holidays.

Christmas Snack Mix Ideas
I love the sweet and salty combo of ingredients in this easy snack mix recipe. But like any snack mix, you can easily add more snack ingredients to your own mix! Try these recipe ideas to create a delicious snack that everyone on your Christmas list will love.

Add some more snack mix ingredients. There are tons of delicious ingredients you can mix in with your caramel Chex and popcorn to create a unique holiday snack mix for your family. Try these other mix-ins as you’re making your snack mix:
- Mini pretzels or pretzel sticks
- Peanuts or mixed nuts
- Cheerios
- Small crackers, like Goldfish or oyster crackers
- Bugels
- Raisins or other dried fruit

Use a different container. I love the idea of using a jar to store your snacks, but that’s not the only container you can package your snack mix in! Try using a cookie tin, clear treat bags, or a treat box instead of a jar for a quick and easy holiday gift idea.
