Dollar Tree Rae Dunn Candles with SVG

If you’re a farmhouse lover, you probably have a love for Rae Dunn. But finding the perfect pieces to add to your collection can be difficult and time consuming. Instead of hunting for those RD finds, why not make your own Rae Dunn crafts instead? Grab your free SVG file to create these Rae Dunn candles using Dollar Tree supplies to make your own custom home decor with just a few minutes of work.

DIY Rae Dunn Candles

These budget-friendly candles make a great addition to your DIY farmhouse fall decor. In addition to being the perfect accent to the rest of your fall decorating, these simple candles are also cheap and easy to make.

To make your own DIY Rae Dunn candles, you’ll just need a handful of simple craft supplies, including:

• Tall Dollar Tree candles: You can find these tall glass candles in the craft or home decor aisle of your dollar store. My store had several different colors, but I loved the orange and white candles for this simple craft project.
• Black vinyl: Any type of black vinyl will work for this simple project.
• Rae Dunn inspired cut file: Keep reading to see how to get your free cut file!
• Ribbon: While you don’t have to decorate the top of your candle jars with ribbon, I love the farmhouse touch it gives the finished product. Both ribbons I used for my candles was found at the dollar store. One is a black and white buffalo check and the other is a jute twine.
• Cutting machine: To make the words for my fall candles, I used my Cricut Explore Air 2.

Fall Rae Dunn SVG

After giving your pumpkins a few coats of white chalk paint, it’s time to add the vinyl! Give your pumpkins a chance to dry while you cut out the words you’ll be using for your DIY fall farmhouse decor.

If you want to make your own Rae Dunn candles, you’ll need to start by downloading my free decal SVG file. The cut file includes a variety of Rae Dunn inspired words for your fall candles. To get your own, simply subscribe to my email list, cut the words with your favorite cutting machine, and apply them to your dollar store candles.

After subscribing, you’ll receive a welcome email with a link to download your SVG files. After downloading the SVG file, upload it into Design Space. Load the SVG, then ungroup the design. After that, you’ll notice that each letter of each word is a separate element. When you have decided which words you want to use for your DIY candles, use your mouse to select all the letters of the word. Then group them together with the group function in the upper right corner.

Next, resize the words to fit on your candles. Measure the space on the front of your candle to determine how tall your words should be. Then, resize the word to fit the space.

When all your words have been resized, weld each word together to tell your Cricut that the letters should be cut in sequence. To weld your words, select the word, then click “weld” at the bottom right corner. Repeat the process for each word.

Now that all your words are ready to cut, you can send your files to your Cricut! Place the correct size piece of vinyl on your cutting mat and load the mat. Set the machine to the vinyl setting. Then, send the file to your machine to cut.

After the words are cut, weed the extra vinyl from around each word. I love using my Cricut weeding tool to help with this! It makes weeding so much easier!

When your words are ready, place a piece of transfer tape over the top of each word. Then cut out the words to remove any extra transfer tape and backing from around the word. Press the transfer tape into the vinyl to ensure it’s stuck, then remove the transfer tape.

Dollar Tree Candle Craft

Use the transfer tape to transfer the vinyl to your Dollar Tree candles. Since the candles are curved, it’s a good idea to start at the middle of the letters. Afther that, you can work your way out. Line up the center of your vinyl with the center of the candle and run your finger down the middle of the letters to hold it in place.

Then, press the vinyl down the front of the candle, working from the middle of the words outward. I like using the Cricut mat scraper to get the vinyl to stick to the candles, but a credit card also works well for this step.

Continue adding the vinyl words to your candles until you have all your dollar store candles are decorated! You can even add more decorations to your pumpkins by tying some twine bows or buffalo plaid ribbon around the top of each of your candles before you set them out with the rest of your farmhouse fall decor!
