To make these easy dollar store horror dolls, you’ll need:

  • Baby dolls. You can find these little baby dolls in the toy section of Dollar Tree. They have a variety of different dolls you can use to make your Halloween decorations.
  • Paint. I used a combination of white, green, and black paint to decorate the faces of my zombie babies. Acrylic craft paint seemed to work well on the plastic baby faces.
  • Creepy Halloween cloth. To create the swaddle for the zombie babies, I used creepy Halloween cloth from the dollar store. You can find several different styles of the cloth in the seasonal section of the store with the Halloween decorations.

How to Make Zombie Horror Dolls

You won’t believe how easy it is to turn adorable baby dolls into spooky horror dolls with a little bit of paint! Just follow these instructions for creating some spooky Halloween decorations.

The first step to making your own zombie horror dolls is to paint your dolls to look like zombies. To create the zombie skin tone, I started with white paint and added one drop of green and one drop of black. After that, I mixed it up and painted the dolls’ faces.

Since I planned to wrap up the babies in cloth, I didn’t paint their arms or legs. But you could also use the paint on the baby’s limbs to give it a full zombie look.

Once the paint has dried on the babies’ faces, use black paint to paint the eyes. I used a small brush to paint around the eyes, but a paint pen would also work to color in this area of the face.

After you let the paint dry on your baby’s eyes, all that’s left to do is swaddle it in creepy fabric. Start by cutting the fabric to fit around the baby’s body. Then, tightly wrap it around and secure the ends in place with a little bit of glue.

Try these fun craft ideas to create some cute decorations for your home this Halloween:

  • Get inspired by your favorite horror movies. I love crafting, but painting isn’t my thing. If you’re more creative than me, use your favorite Halloween movies to inspire your own horror dolls. I’ve seen some seriously cute Michael Meyers, Freddy Kreuger, and Ghost Face dolls out there!
  • Add some clothing. My dollar store was out of baby clothing, so I opted to swaddle my zombie babies. But take a look in your store’s toy aisle to see if there are any clothes available for your baby that you can use to decorate your horror dolls.
  • Use them to decorate. I have a confession to make. My kids loved playing with these baby dolls! But the can also be used to decorate your home. Place the babies in baskets or pumpkins to help add some spookiness to your house.
