To make your own Batman mason jars for your party, you’ll need just a few simple supplies, including:

  • Mason jars. I used pint sized jars with a wide mouth because that’s what I had on hand. But you can use any size or shape you want, depending on how you plan to use your jars when you’re ginished.
  • Black paint. The jars I used were painted black to match the rest of my party’s decor. But you can change up the color to match your own decorations. Since you’ll be painting glass jars, I suggest using chalk paint or acrylic paint for glass.
  • Paper napkins. To add the Batman design to your jars, you’ll need paper napkins with Batman on them. I got my Batman napkins from Amazon.
  • Mod Podge. The final item you’ll need to make these cool jars is Mod Podge to help the napkins stick to the glass.

How to Make Batman Jars

Once you see how simple it is to make these cool jars, they’re going to be your new favorite craft! Make them for the party, then use them to decorate your kid’s room after the celebration is over.

The first step to making this fun party decoration is to paint your jars. I used black chalk paint to cover the jars. Chalk paint seems to work the best when painting mason jars, but if you use acrylic paint, make sure that you’re using an acrylic that is designed for painting glass.

I put three coats of paint on my jars to make sure they’re fully covered. After that, give the paint plenty of time to dry before you move onto the next step.

While you’re waiting for your paint to dry, you can start getting your napkins ready for decorating the jars. If you’re using the same napkins that I did, you’ll see that the front of the napkins has the Bat Symbol and the back has a picture of Batman.

Start by pulling the layers of the napkin apart so you’re left with just one layer.

After you have the layers of the napkins separated, use scissors to cut around the outside of the design you plan to use on your jars.

I used the Bat Symbol on one jar and Batman on another jar.

Once you have the napkins ready to go and the paint is completely dry, it’s time to start decorating. First, paint a layer of Mod Podge over the area of the jar where you plan to place the design from the napkin.

Then, place the napkin on top of the glue and carefully smooth it out to try to get as many wrinkles out as you can. Don’t apply too much pressure to the napkin as you’re smoothing because it can rip pretty easily.

You can use a full napkin to cover the entire front of the jar. Or just a small piece of the napkin, like I did with the Batman jar. Don’t worry about adding too much Mod Podge around the napkin because it will dry clear!

Once you have your napkin positioned where you want, add a final layer of Mod Podge over the top of the napkin to seal the napkin and secure it in place. After that, all that’s left to do is allow the glue to dry completely before you can use the jars. I suggest letting the Mod Podge sit overnight to fully harden.
