Toy Story Mason Jars

These cute Toy Story mason jars are the perfect party craft! There are so many fun ways you can use your painted mason jars at your party!

To make your own Toy Story jars, you’ll just need a handful of simple craft supplies, including:

  • Mason jars
  • White chalk paint
  • Red paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking tape
  • Ribbon
  • Toy Story tags

When preparing to create my painted jars, I found these cool patriotic mason jars! The stars on the front were the perfect addition to my party decor!

Painted Mason Jars

Start by giving your jars a base coat of white chalk paint. When painting jars, I found that chalk paint is the best choice. The matte finish adheres to the jars without smearing. And it provides a great base for the rest of your paint. Once you’ve created a foundation of chalk paint on your jar, you can use craft paint on top of it without worry!

After your chalk paint is completely dry, it’s time to add the stripes to your Toy Story mason jars. Use masking tape to create the stripes. If you’re using jars with curves, like I did, make sure you press the tape down around all the bumps and grooves to prevent leaks from getting through as you’re painting.

Paint the red stripes on the jars, paying special attention to the rim and designs to ensure you get a clean coat. Allow your stripes to dry, adding additional coats if needed.

When your red paint is completely dry, carefully remove the masking tape from the jars. No matter how hard you try you’ll probably have some bleeding under the masking tape. Use a small paintbrush to touch up your white stripes after the tape is removed.

Now it’s time to turn your striped jars into cute Toy Story mason jars! Start by placing a yellow ribbon around the top of the jar. Wrap the ribbon around the top of the jar a few times, then secure it with a knot.

Finally, add the Toy Story tags to the front of the jar. To decorate my Toy Story jars, I used these cute round character tags from this pack of Toy Story decorations. Just punch a hole in the top of the tags you plan to use, thread the ribbon through the hole, then tie a bow!

How to Use Toy Story Jars

These cute jars are perfect for a Toy Story party! But that doesn’t mean you have to use them just for a party. You can use these Toy Story jars for:

  • Holding the utensils, napkins, and/or straws on your Toy Story food table
  • As a vase for a Toy Story centerpiece at your party
  • To hold pencils, markers, crayons and other school supplies in your kid’s room

With so many great ways to use these cute jars, you know what you want to make them! So, grab your supplies and get painting. Your kids are going to love them!
