As my son gets older, he is starting to stray away from birthday parties with a theme. So this year, we did a simple video game party with his friends, along with a sleepover. Along with cake and video game cookies, I also made these easy chocolate covered pretzels for the snacks for a video game party.

Video Game Party Snacks

Chocolate covered pretzels make great snacks for a video game party, especially if your party goers are going to be playing video games at the event. They’re easy to hold and easy to eat, which is perfect for a serious video game battle.
But the best thing about these simple video game party treats is that they won’t get your gamer’s hands all messy while they’re eating them. So there’s no need to pause the game to get a sweet and salty snack!
These simple video game party snacks are not only easy to make, but they’re also delicious. And they were a big hit with all the party-goers because they were so easy to eat while gaming!
Easy Video Game Party Treats
So now that I have you convinced that you need to make this simple food idea for a video game party, you’re probably wondering how to make them, right?

The first step to making these easy candy-covered pretzels is to prepare your dipping chocolate. Our party’s colors were black and green, so I used black and green melting chocolate to coat my pretzels. Here’s what you need to make your own chocolate-covered pretzels:
- Pretzel rods
- Black melting chocolate (available on Amazon)
- Green melting chocolate (available on Amazon)
Melt each package of chocolate according to the package instructions, then lay out a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper on a flat surface so you have a place for your pretzels to set when you’re finished coating them.
Decorating Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Start by separating two to three tablespoons of each color chocolate into a piping bag for decorating. Then use the remaining chocolate for coating the pretzels.
Hold your pretzel rods over the top of the bowl of melted chocolate and spoon the chocolate over the top half of the pretzel rod. When the entire top half of the pretzel is coated, tap the pretzel on the edge of the bowl to help any extra drips come off. Then, place the pretzel on the waxed paper to set.
Continue spooning chocolate on the pretzels until all the chocolate has been used. Then, move on to the second color and repeat the process.
To coat an entire bag of pretzel rods, you’ll need two bags of each color of melting chocolate. That will make plenty of chocolate pretzels for your video game birthday party!
After all the pretzels have been coated, allow the chocolate to set before adding the decorative drizzle. It won’t take long for the melting chocolate to set, so they should be ready for decorating within a few minutes. Cut the end off the piping bag and quickly drizzle the opposite color of chocolate over the top of the pretzels. The pretzels coated in black chocolate will need the green drizzle, and the pretzels coated in green chocolate should be drizzled with black chocolate.
Video Birthday Party Snacks

When your pretzels are set and the chocolate has hardened, you can add them to your video game party food table. Place them on a plate or stick them in a small bucket to display your video game party snacks for everyone to enjoy.
