Simple DIY Farmhouse Decor Candle Hack
I love decorating my home with farmhouse decor, but buying those rustic decorations from the store can quickly get expensive. A great way to save money while decorating your home is to hack items you already have and create a fun new farmhouse DIY project. That’s why I love this simple candle hack! It’s an easy DIY farmhouse decor project that turns a candle into a beautiful decoration for your home.

I love how simple this fun project is! In addition to taking no more than five minutes to complete, you also only need four supplies to turn plain candles in to pretty farmhouse candle decor. And that’s counting the candles!
Supplies for This Easy Candle Hack

To create this easy DIY farmhouse decor, you’ll need a set of candles, buffalo check ribbon, brown twine, and a hot glue gun. I chose to use flameless candles because that’s the only kind I use around my house. I have an adventurous toddler — it’s safer that way!
If you prefer to use real candles when decorating your home, you can still make this DIY farmhouse decor. The simple instructions are the same whether you use real or flameless candles. And just because I used buffalo check ribbon, doesn’t mean you have to! Any printed ribbon would work for this project. Just pick your favorite and glue away!
Make Your Own Easy DIY Farmhouse Decor

Start by unrolling your ribbon and wrapping it around each candle. Then, cut the ribbon at the spot where the two ends meet. You’ll want a little bit of an overlap so you can pull the ribbon tightly around the candle. This will keep you from having a gap when you glue the ribbon in place.

Once you have your ribbon cut to the right length, it’s time to glue. Grab your glue gun and place a few dots on the side of the candle you want to be in the back. Be sure to place the glue dots as close to the center of the candle as you can. Place one end of the ribbon on the glue and hold in place for a few seconds to secure.
Then, add another set of glue dots on top of the ribbon’s end. Pull your ribbon tightly around the candle and press the other end of the ribbon into your new set of glue dots. Press firmly for a few seconds to make sure it’s secure.

After the glue has dried on your ribbon, you can add the twine to your DIY farmhouse decor. I used basic brown twine that I think I bought in the gardening section of Wal-Mart. It has a rustic look that perfectly accents the buffalo check pattern, making it great for DIY farmhouse decor.
To add the twine, I wrapped a long piece of the string around the candle twice. Then, I tied a small bow in the front of the candle.

When I was satisfied with the look and placement of my twine and bow, I secured with a drop of hot glue on the back. Just squeeze a dollop of glue on to the top of the twine, making sure the dollop spans from the ribbon on top of the twine to the ribbon on the bottom of the twine.

I made two buffalo check candles to use on my mantle. You can place them on a pretty piece of rustic wood or make your own DIY farmhouse candle holders to set the candles on top of. I love this DIY lantern! This simple farmhouse candle decor is the perfect accent piece to the rest of my mantel decor!
