Your kids will love how simple this cute Christmas craft for kids is to make. You only need three supplies, in addition to scissors and glue! To make these adorable Santa hats, you’ll need red craft sticks, cotton balls, and red construction paper. If you can’t find red craft sticks, just use plain craft sticks and paint them red. Another fun step to add to the craft!

The first step to making this Christmas craft for kids is to glue the sticks together to form a hat. To do this, ask your child to make a triangle with three craft sticks. For this step, I found that using hot glue was the best way to keep the sticks stuck together. So, I recommend that after you child figures out how to form the triangle, you use the hot glue gun to glue the sticks together. And make sure the glue is completely cool before handing it back to your child for the next step.

After the glue is dry, ask your child top place their Santa hat triangle on top of the red construction paper. Using a pencil, have them trace along the inside of the triangle. Draw a triangle for each Santa hat you plan to make.

After all of your triangles are drawn for your Christmas craft for kids, it’s time to cut. But don’t ask your child to cut directly on the line! Your paper will be too small if they cut on the line. Instead, ask them to cut above the line on each side of the triangle. For younger children, I suggest drawing a second dotted line about a quarter of an inch away from the line they traced. That will help them keep from cutting directly on the line.

Next, it’s time to glue the red construction paper triangles to your popsicle stick triangles. Regular school glue will work for this step. So your child should have no problem gluing the paper to the wood frame.

To finish this cute Christmas craft for kids, decorate your popsicle stick Santa hats! Using glue, ask your child to stick cotton balls along the bottom of the triangle. And then have them stick on on top of the triangle to top off the Santa hat.
