How to Make a Reindeer With Cinnamon Sticks
The first step to making your own reindeer out of cinnamon sticks is to create the face for your reindeer. Forn a triangle with three cinnamon sticks by gluing to sticks together at the ends to form a V shape. Then, glue a third cinnamon stick across the top of the V to make a triangle. The point of the V will be the reindeer’s nose. To turn your reindeer ornaments into Rudolph, just add a red button to the tip of the nose. You can also use black buttons to create the rest of Santa’s reindeer.
Next, glue the eyes to the top of the reindeer’s head. We used oversized googly eyes for this Christmas craft to allow the eyes to overhang over the edge of the cinnamon sticks. This makes them a little more centered on the reindeer’s face. To give this effect to your reindeer, glue the tops of the eyes to the bottom edge of the cinnamon stick. You’ll need to hold the eyes in place until the glue dries to make sure they stay put.
Now it’s time to make your reindeer’s antlers. Bend a brown pipe cleaner in half and create a V shape with the pipe cleaner. Twist the ends around your finger to create spirals on each side.
Then, glue the point of the V at the center of the antlers to the back of your cinnamon stick reindeer ornament. Adjust the antlers as needed once the glue dries.
Finish by making a loop with a piece of ribbon or twine so you can hang your ornaments on the tree. Cut a length of twine and form a loop. Flip the reindeer ornament over and glue the ends of the twine to the top of the ornament. Allow the glue to dry completely and hang it on the tree.
Tips for Making Cinnamon Stick Reindeer Ornaments
Making your own Christmas craft using cinnamon sticks at home is so simple! What’s so much fun about this cute craft is that kids of any age can make it! Consider these easy tips to create an amazing cinnamon stick reindeer craft at home with your kids this Christmas.
Buy cinnamon sticks in the baking section of the grocery store. If you’re wondering where to buy cinnamon sticks, take a look in the baking aisle of your grocery store. Full-size cinnamon sticks are usually found near the spices on a lower shelf. If you can’t find them in your store, you can also purchase them on Amazon.
Construct the craft for younger kids. If you have younger kids who will be making this reindeer craft, do the first step for them. Gluing the cinnamon sticks together works best with super glue or a hot glue gun. If you’re making this easy craft with young kids, it’s a good idea to form the triangle shape for the reindeer’s face first. Then, let your kids decorate the reindeer.
Change up the nose for a different look. You don’t have to use a red button for the nose on this craft. Replace the button with a red pom pom to create a different Rudolph look. Or make all Santa’s reindeer to hang on your Christmas tree by using a black button or pom pom for the rest of the cinnamon stick reindeer.
Make the face with popsicle sticks. If you don’t have any cinnamon sticks around, you can also construct the reindeer’s face with popsicle sticks. Just form a triangle with three popsicle sticks and continue putting the craft together according to the instructions.
