Both my kids love the Halloween, so we’re always looking for fun ways to enjoy the season together. And that usually means making crafts! Popsicle sticks are one of our favorite craft supplies because there’s just so many ways you can use them to create something fun! And you can always find a big bag of sticks at the dollar store!

Popsicle Stick Jack O Lantern

To make your own popsicle stick jack o lantern, you’ll need a few simple craft supplies. Put together this Halloween craft at home with these supplies:

• Wooden craft sticks. You can purchase orange colored popsicle sticks sticks at Dollar Tree or paint plain craft sticks orange to give them a pumpkin look.
• Printer and cardstock. To give your popsicle stick pumpkin craft a face, you’ll need to download my printable template. Once you download the face, print it out on cardstock!
• Scissors and glue. To put the craft together, you’ll need a pair of scissors to cut out the template and some glue to attach all the pieces.

So, gather up your supplies and get started on your own jack o lantern with popsicle sticks right now!

How to Make a Popsicle Stick Jack O Lantern

Start by arranging 8 popsicle sticks in a row, making sure the bottom of the sticks are lined up straight. I laid a ruler down on the table so the kids can line up the sticks in a straight line.

Once the sticks are all lined up, glue two popsicle sticks on top of the line to secure them all together.

When your glue is dry, flip the sticks over so you can’t see the two pieces you just glued on. Then, use orange paint to coat the entire set of popsicle sticks. We used orange acrylic paint to paint our pumpkins.

While you’re waiting for the paint to dry on your popsicle sticks, you can cut out the template pieces for your jack o lantern craft. Cut out each piece around the outer edge for your younger kids. Or let your older kids practice their cutting skills by giving them the chance to cut out each piece on their own.

After all the pieces are cut out, you can start assembling your pumpkin! Start by placing the pieces of the face in the correct spots on top of the popsicle sticks.

After that, attach the stem and leaf to the top of your pumpkin!

• Use orange popsicle sticks. If you take a look in the craft aisle at Dollar Tree, you’ll probably find a package of pre-colored popsicle sticks. Just sort out the orange sticks from the package to put together a cute pumpkin craft without the mess of painting.
• Make it with large popsicle sticks. This craft is made using small sticks. But if you want to create a large popsicle stick pumpkin, you can also use large craft sticks. You won’t need as many large sticks to create your own jack o lantern.
• Make it a magnet. Are you looking for an easy way to display your popsicle stick jack o lantern when your kids are finished making it? Add a magnet to the back! Simply glue a magnet to the back of the pumpkin and hang it on your fridge.
• Make a popsicle stick pumpkin. This Halloween craft could easily be turned into a fall art project. After you paint your popsicle sticks, simply leave off the Jack o Lantern face. Just attach the stem and leaf on top to make a plain pumpkin.
