You won’t believe how easy it is to turn a mason jar lid into a sunflower with a little bit of fabric! That makes this DIY project perfect for beginner crafters because you literally can’t mess it up!

In addition to being simple to make, this adorable craft can also be put together with just a handful of supplies. And since you can change up the items you use, you can put this project together with things you probably already have at home right now.

Mason Jar Lid Sunflowers

My favorite part about this easy fall sunflower craft is that you can transform it in any way you choose. Keep reading to see what supplies I used, along with some other suggestions to make it simple for you to find the right items for your own project.

To make your own mason jar lid sunflowers, you’ll need just a few simple craft supplies, including:

• Mason jar lid. To make this flower craft, you need to make sure to have a lid ring and lid for your mason jar. I used a wide-mouth lid for my craft, but you can use a smaller lid, too.
• Yellow fabric. The petals of my sunflower is made with yellow fabric. I used a little more than half of a fat quarter to make one wide-mouth lid sunflower.
• Black polka dot fabric. To make the center of the sunflower, I used black and white polka dot fabric. You can use scrap fabric for this section of the craft because you only need a small square!
• Wooden kabob stick. The stem of my mason jar sunflower is a wooden kabob stick. You could use any stick you want to hold up your finished flowers.
• Hot glue gun. To put your flowers together, you’ll also need a hot glue gun to hold the pieces in place.

How to Make Mason Jar Lid Sunflowers

Now that you have your supplies gathered up for your sunflowers, it’s time to start crafting! Follow these simple instructions for making your rustic fall decor for your farmhouse home.

The first step to turning your jar lid into a sunflower is to get your fabric ready. Cut your fabric into one-inch wide strips that are around six inches long. You’ll need around 20 strips of fabric to cover a wide-mouth lid ring.

Once you have all your strips cut, you can start wrapping the fabric around the lid. First, fold the strip in half to create a loop. Place the loop on the outside of the ring and the ends of the fabric on the inside of the ring. Then, thread the ends of the fabric through the loop and pull it tight.

Keep wrapping the fabric around the lid ring until it’s fully covered. Then, separate the ends of the fabric to create a fuller look for your sunflowers.

Now that you have your petals finished, it’s time to make the inside of your flower. Start by cutting a square wide enough to cover the center of your mason jar lid.

Then, use the hot glue gun to glue the ends in place to fully cover the entire lid with the fabric.

Add the black and white polka dot lid to the center of your yellow petals by gently pushing it into place through the bottom of the lid ring. It should stay in place on its own, but if it feels loose you an use your hot glue gun to secure it.

Finish by gluing the kabob stick to the back of the flower to create a stem. Once the glue is dry, you can add your mason jar lid sunflowers to your favorite fall floral arrangement!
