Easy Video Game Birthday Party at Home

Video Game Party Dessert Table
To throw an awesome video game birthday party at home, you just need a few simple supplies:
- Video game party decorations
- Video game party food and snacks
- A delicious birthday cake
- Video game party entertainment
Start by deciding how much decorating you’ll do for your video game home party. We hosted a few boys for a slumber party. And since I knew they’d be running around the house playing, I decided not to do much decorating for our video game party.
My video game birthday party decorations really just consisted of decorating a dessert table. I started with a green plastic table cover for the dessert table, then decorated with balloons.
Then, I added the video game party snacks:
- Black and green chocolate covered pretzels
- Video game controller button sugar cookies
The cookies were basic sugar cookies decorated with chocolate frosting. Each cookie featured the shape of a different Playstation controller button on top of the chocolate icing.
The other snack I offered the kids were chocolate covered pretzels in the party’s theme colors — black and green.
And you can’t have a birthday party without a cake! For this party, I made my son’s favorite cake — chocolate. And topped it with a delicious chocolate buttercream frosting.
Video Game Birthday Party at Home
But food isn’t the only element of throwing a great video game birthday party at home! You also need to keep the kids entertained!
One of my favorite parts about throwing a video game themed party is that the entertainment is built right in — video games. Our party guests were spread out across the house playing video games on every one of our TVs.
And when the video games got old, they played a real-life version of a video game with Nerf guns. Then, they grabbed some video-game inspired board games — Fortnite Monopoly and Fortnite Jenga for a little bit of board game fun.
Since we threw a slumber party this year for my birthday party for boys, I swapped out the video game party snacks for other food throughout the evening. We used the video game tableware for all the different food, like:
- Pizza for dinner
- Make your own snack mix for snacks throughout the night
- Pancakes for breakfast
The party ended when the candles were blown out and everyone enjoyed a slice of cake. Our video game party cake was topped with a flashing candle plus nine blue and green candles on top.
