How to Make a Chick Puppet
After you download your own chick craft template, print it out on heavy card stock. Then, cut the chick’s body out around the outer border. Then, just spread some glue over the body and start gluing yellow puff balls all over the body to add some fluff to your baby chick.
Finish this adorable chick project for preschoolers by adding a beak and eyes. Our eyes are blue googly eyes from Dollar Tree. And we cut out the beak from orange construction paper.
Now that your cute chick is decorated, it’s time to turn it into a fun chick puppet! To do this, simply glue a popsicle stick to the back of the chick’s body.
Paper Plate Chick Craft for Preschoolers
Set your cute little chick aside for a second because it’s time to make a hatching egg. For the egg, grab a plain white paper plate. Cut the top section of the plate off, making a zig zag pattern with your scissors.
Remove the top section of the cut paper plate and glue it to the top of your chick’s head. This will be the top part of your chick’s hatching egg. How cute is that?
Finish up your chick craft by cutting a slit near the bottom of the bottom half of the paper plate. Slide your chick puppet’s stick through the slit so that your chick is hiding behind the bottom half of the egg.
Hatching Chick Craft for Kids
Now that your chick craft is complete, it’s time to play! To make your fluffy chick hatch from its egg, just push the popsicle stick up so the chick pops up out of the egg. So much fun!
Chick Craft Variations
If you’re stuck at home and don’t feel like heading out to purchase supplies for this craft, don’t worry! There are a few simple variations you can make to this fun craft to make it even simpler to put together
- Paint the chick. If you don’t have a bunch of yellow puff balls at home, consider grabbing some yellow paint to decorate your chick. Just print out the template as you normally would, then paint the body before attaching the popsicle stick and paper plate.
- Color the chick. Don’t want to make a big mess with paint? Color the chick’s body with a crayon or marker before putting the craft together.
- Decorate with feathers. Do you have feathers at home? Use them to decorate the chick’s body instead of the yellow pompoms.
- Print on yellow paper. Make this craft super easy by printing your template on yellow paper instead of white.
