If you have a Cricut, you won’t believe how easy it is to make these adorable mason jar lanterns for Halloween! That’s because all you have to do is download the SVG, cut the file, and paint your jars.

That means you can put together these adorable Halloween decorations with just a few minutes of actual work. The hardest part about making this craft is waiting for the paint to dry!

Halloween Mason Lanterns

This simple craft is actually made up of two of my other mason jar crafts — a mason jar jack o lantern and a mason jar ghost. That means to put this project together, you can check out my other tutorials for decorating your jars.

How to Make Mason Jar Halloween Lanterns

Once you have your Jack-o-lantern and ghost mason jars put together, turning them into spooky mason jar lanterns for Halloween is so easy! Keep reading to see how to make your own Halloween crafts right now.

Start by following the instructions in my ghost and jack o lantern mason jar craft tutorials (link listed above). To make these jars, you’ll need to grab my free SVG files to use with your Cricut.

Now that you have your jars painted and ready to go, it’s super simple to turn them into lanterns. All you have to do is add a light source inside your jars!

There are a few different options you can use to light up your Halloween lanterns, including:

Tea lights or votives. For an authentic look, try adding a real candles to your mason jar lanterns. You can use tea lights or votive candles to light up the jars. Just make sure to use the candles safely to avoid causing a fire hazard!
Battery-operated tea lights. You can find these mini tea lights at Dollar Tree to add to your jars. These are a good option if you’re looking for a safe alternative to candlelight. But they’re not very bright, so keep that in mind.
Battery operated fairy lights. After trying a few different lighting methods, this was my favorite option. Place the battery pack for your lights inside the jar, then lightly wrap the lights around it to cover it up. After that, you can arrange the lights around the edge of the jar to fully light it up.

After you decide what type of light source you’re going to use for your lanterns, just turn it on and place it inside the jar! The light will illuminate the inside of the jar and let the faces on the front of the jar light up.
