Virtual Fortnite Party in Party Royale
Thanks to a new party mode in the popular video game, your kids can get together for a birthday celebration right in their favorite game. Creating a party in Fortnite is much like throwing a virtual party. You can create your own party within Fortnite, invite your friends to join, and play together. This party option is a great way to virtually celebrate a birthday or special event!
Throwing a party in Fortnite requires your kids to use the Party Royale mode in the game. If you’re not familiar with this option or your kid has never used it, learn how to make a party in Fortnite with my informative post. This section of the game is located in it’s own island on the Fortnite map and includes a variety of fun features your kids can use during your celebration, like:
- Listen to music in the island’s concert hall.
- Race against each other in vehicles on the island’s race track.
- Gameplay with nonlethal weapons, like paintball guns, paint bombs, and crash pads.
Virtual Fortnite Party Games
Party games are a popular way to keep your guests entertained at the event. And even though your Fortnite birthday party is virtual doesn’t mean the kids can’t have fun playing together during the celebration. In addition to freeplay mode, the Party Royale feature also includes built-in challenges that make perfect party games.
These virtual Fortnite birthday party games are a great way to get the kids playing together during the event:
- Glider Drop: In this fun Fortnite game, players can teleport above the island and glide through the rings floating in the sky to earn points.
- Time Trials: Get the players together to race each other around the map on foot to the different checkpoints
- Wave Dash: Or head to the water and grab a boat, then race each other around the island on water through different checkpoints as fast as you can
- Quad Dash: The kids can also use an ATV to race around the island, making sure to reach each checkpoint before time runs out
- Soccer: Players can also play a game of soccer with each other on the island’s soccer field
Virtual Fortnite Birthday Invitations
Inviting your guests to a virtual birthday party is slightly different than inviting them to a traditional celebration. You can either send out a traditional Fortnite birthday party invitation or email virtual invitations to your party guests. The invitation will need to include
- the date and time of the party
- a reminder that guests will need a Fortnite account to join the party
- login information or links to video chat options for the party
- instructions for logging in, if needed
After inviting your guests to the party, there’s a second step your kid will need to take to invite them to the party on Fortnite. Since the only way to invite your friends to your Party Royale on Fortnite is to send them an invite when they’re already online, they’ll need to send an invite through the game once the party has started.
Birthday Party Video Chat
When hosting a virtual birthday party, it’s important to find a way for the kids to communicate with each other during the event. Video chat and text chat are both popular party options because they give the kids a chance to catch up and chat while they play. When hosting a virtual Fortnite party, there are a few different options for setting up a chat for the party guests.
Houseparty video chat is the best option for your guests to chat with each other during your Fortnite party. Thanks to a partnership with the game, the popular video chatting app allows players to video chat right in Fortnite. The video chat even gives each player a Fortnite-themed background behind their head to block the mess in your kid’s room!
There are a few steps and requirements for setting up a Houseparty chat for your virtual party. First off, the chat option is only available to players on a PC or Playstation, so if any of your party guests are playing on an XBox, they won’t be able to take part in the video chat. That’s something to consider when planning out the chat section of your party. Additionally, you’ll also need to have the Houseparty app set up on your phone, but it’s avaible on both Android and Apple operating systems.
- To set up Houseparty video chat for your Fortnite party, you’ll need to:
- Connect your Houseparty app to your kid’s Epic Games account.
- Start playing Fortnite on your PC or Playstation, then place the phone in a spot where your kid’s face is fully visible.
- Open the Houseparty app on your phone and select Connect to cast your Houseparty into your Fortnite game.
- Invite your friends through the Houseparty app to join the chat.
Since there are several requirements to using this video chat option, it’s a good idea to check with the parents of the kids in attendence to make sure everyone has the Houseparty app installed and that they’re able to use the feature on their gaming system. If everyone isn’t able to join the party in this method, there are other options for chatting during the event.
Your kids can use the chat within the game to talk to each other as they normally would, without the video option. Fortnite allows players to talk to each other through a gaming headset or by using the text chat feature within the game.
You can also set up a Zoom call for your guests to join, allowing them to video chat while they play. The Zoom call can take place as the kids are playing the game or during a designated time during the party, after the kids are finished playing.
Virtual Birthday Party Food
Party food is a big deal at a traditional birthday party, but it’s hard to figure out how to serve food at a virtual party. While you can make some fun Fortnite treats to serve to your kid while they play, how can the other virtual attendees get in on the fun? One simple way to ensure the kids attending your virtual party at least get a sweet treat for the celebration is to send something to each of the kid’s homes before the celebration.
Using a food delivery service is a great way to deliver a snack to each of the kid’s home in advance of the party. Check to see if a local bakery offerd delivery services or if you can order desserts from anywhere on food deliver services like Grub Hub or Door Dash. You could also order birthday cookies from Amazon.
Another option is to deliver treats to each of the homes of your party guests. Make a few snacks and cupcakes, then drop the food off on the porches of each of your guests prio to the party. Just be sure to let their parents know when the food will arrive, so they can be on the lookout for the treats!
Virtual Fortnite Party Favors
Party favors are another popular tradition at regular birthday parties. And while providing favors for your party guests isn’t necessary with a virtual birthday party, it’s something you can do pretty easily. There are a couple of different options you can use to give Fortnite party favors to each of your virtual guests:
- Send a virtual favor. One of the best ways to tell the kids thanks for attending your virtual birthday is to send a virtual favor. You can send each of the kids playing on Fortnite V-bucks to purchase something for their character. Or your kid can gift skins or upgrades to each of the characters within the game.
- Mail favor bags to the kids. If you would rather send the kids traditional favor bags, there’s no reason you have to skip the tradition. Put together a fun Fortnite favor bag, then box it up and mail it to each of the party guests after the party is over.
