With so many different people to give this fun gift to, you may need to make a few! Luckily, my printable set of gift tags comes with four cards on one sheet! To make your DIY valentine candy jars, you’ll just need a few craft supplies, including:

  • Mason jar: Any mason jar will work for this craft. I used a quart sized mason jar to hold all the candy. But you can use any size jar, depending on how much candy you have on hand. I suggest using wide-mouth mason jars to make adding and arranging your candy inside a little bit easier.
  • Printable gift tags: Keep scrolling to see how to get your free printable gift tags for your mason jar gift.
  • Cardstock: Print your gift tags on white cardstock to ensure they look amazing on each of your gifts. I suggest using 60 lb cardstick when making your own gift tags at home.
  • Cricut or scissors: To make cutting the gift cards even easier, I suggest using your Cricut Explore Air 2 to print then cut the cards. But if you don’t have a Cricut, don’t worry! You can also cut out the cards using scissos.
  • Ribbon: Add a pop of color or pattern to the top of your gif in a jar with the help of some ribbon. I got this cute red and white check ribbon from Dollar Tree.

After you get the pass word to download your printable gift tags, you’ll have two download options to choose from:

  • PNG. Use this file option if you plan on using your Circut to cut out the cards. Upload the PNG into Design Space to let your Cricut do all the cutting for you.
  • PDF. If you don’t want to use your Cricut, you can also cut out the cards by hand. Download the PDF version if this is the case. You’ll need to have a PDF reader installed on your computer to view and print the PDF download. If you don’t have one, I recommend Adobe PDF reader.
print then cut valentines

To use this file as a print then cut file with your Cricut, start by uploading the PNG version of the cards into Design Space. When you select the file, you’ll be asked to select the image type. With this design, any of the options will work, so you can just select any one of the options on the screen. On the next screen, Design Space will ask if you would like to use the file as a print then cut image or a cut image. Select “save as a print then cut image,” then push save in the bottom right-hand corner.

After you upload the cards into design space, they’re ready to print then cut. Hit the make it button, then select the printer you want to send the design to. Make sure you have cardstock loaded in the printer, then hit print.

Next, place the printed cards on your cutting mat, as it appears on your computer screen. Don’t worry if your placement isn’t exact. The black border around the image will help your Cricut know where to cut. Load the mat into the machine, then hit the flashing button to start cutting. Once the machine is done, unload your mat and remove the cards from the cutting mat.

You can also cut the cards out by hand. After printing your cards on cardstock, use a pair of sharp scissors to cut each gift tag out around the outer border.

Valentine’s Day Candy Jars

Now that your gift tags are ready to go, it’s time to start filling your mason jars with candy!

valentine M and Ms

First, add a layer of Valentine’s Day M&Ms to the bottom of your jar. To fill this part of the jar, I used one small bag of candy.

marshmallow hearts

After that, add a row of heart marshmallows to the jar. You’ll have to stick your hand into the jar to hold the marshmallows in place as you’re arranging them. That’s why it’s a good idea to use a wide-mouth jar!

I used Stuffed Puffs heart-shaped marshmallows for my candy jars. But any heart shaped marshmallows will work for this section of your candy filled jars.

After adding the marshmallow layer, all that’s left to do is fill the jar the rest of the way up with Valentine’s Day M&Ms. I used another small bag to fill this section of the jar.

When you’re finished filling your jars with candy, the next step is to add your gift tag. Start by using a hole punch to place a hole in the top of the tag. Then, attach the tag to the jar with a piece of ribbon.

  • Candy. You can’t go wrong with candy on Valentine’s Day. Look for classic candy, like conversation hearts, chocolate hearts, Hershey’s Kisses, or fun sized candy bars to create a delicious gift in a jar for anyone on your shopping list.
  • Chocolate strawberries. Make a batch of homemade chocolate covered strawberries or buy some from the store to fill up your jars.
  • Cookies. Cookies are another great option for jarred gifts. Add your favorite pre-made cookies to the jar or make homemade cookies to fill your gift.
  • Snack mix. Giving snacks is one of my favorite food gift ideas. Valentine’s Day snack mix is the perfect addition to any jar! If you’re looking for a good snack mix idea, try my s’mores snack mix in my handmade teacher gift in a jar.
