Paper Plate Minnie Mouse Craft
This quick and easy paper plate craft is so simple to make, which means it’s perfect for a rainy spring afternoon or a hot summer day! And since it features your kid’s favorite character, they’re sure to have a blast putting it together!

But the best part about this simple DIY is that you can put it together with just a handful of common supplies laying around the house. And since it’s also super easy to customize, you can find more ideas for making this project with your kids at the bottom of the post.
- Paper plates. To make your Minnie Mouse craft at home, you can use any size paper plate you want. To make ours, we used small 6-inch plates because that’s what we had on hand, but full-sized plates would also work!
- Black paint. To turn your plate into Minnie Mouse, you’ll need to use some red black paint, as well as a paint brush for your kid to use. I suggest using acrylic craft paint because it provides a nice, thick coat.
- Construction paper. To make the ears for your Minnie Mouse, we used black construction paper. But you have a few other options for this part of the project! Keep reading below to see some other ideas.
- Polka dot ribbon. Add a cute look to the paper plate craft with the help of some red and white polka dot ribbon to decorate Minnie Mouse’s head.
How to Make a Paper Plate Minnie Mouse
Now that you have all your supplies gathered up, it’s time to get crafty! Have some fun with your kids making your own Disney DIY at home or in the classroom by following these easy instructions.

The first step to turning your paper plate into Mickey Mouse is to do some painting. We used black paint to give it the look of Minnie’s outfit. Simply paint the entire plate black, adding more coats if needed until the whole plate is fully covered. We used two coats of black paint for ours.
While you’re waiting for the black paint to dry, your kids can cut the ears for their Minnie craft. They’ll need two round circles cut from black paper. You can draw the circles on the paper for them with a white colored pencil or let them freehand it.

When the paint is completely dry, glue each round ear to the top of the plate.

Then, cut a 12 inch piece of polka dot ribbon and tie it into a bow. Trim the ends of the bow short to create the look of Minnie’s bow.

After that, all that’s left to do is glue to the bow to your paper plate! Attach it to the top of the plate between the round ears.

Your kids are going to have a blast making their own Minnie DIY with supplies you have on hand. Whether you’re putting together this cute craft at home, in the classroom, or at Bible School, it’s sure to be a hit with everyone involved.

And since this Disney themed craft is so simple to make, it’s also easy to customize! Try these craft ideas as you’re putting your own art project together to create an adorable Minnie Mouse with your kids today.
- Use black construction paper. Skip the mess of paint by using black paper to make cover the paper plate. Glue the paper to the plate, then flip the plate over and trim the edges into a circle.
- Use a paper plate for the ears. If you don’t have any black paper at home, simply paint a second paper plate black. When the paint is dry, cut out two circles from the painted plate and glue them to the top of the plate.
- Replace the bow with paint or paper. Don’t have any polka dot ribbon on hand? Use red and white paint to add the bow to the front of the plate. Or cut out a bow shape from red paper to create the Minnie Mouse bow!
