- Paper plates. To make your Mickey Mouse craft at home, you can use any size paper plate you want. We used small 6-inch plates because that’s what we had on hand, but full-sized plates would also work!
- Red and black paint. To turn your plate into Mickey Mouse, you’ll need to use some red and black paint, as well as a paint brush for your kid to use.
- Construction paper. We used black construction paper to make the ears for this Disney craft, but you have a few other options for this part of the project! Keep reading below to see some other ideas.
- White buttons. Add a cute look to the paper plate craft with the help of some white buttons to decorate Mickey’s red pants.
How to Make a Paper Plate Mickey Mouse
Now that you have all your supplies gathered up, it’s time to get crafty! Have some fun with your kids making your own Disney DIY at home or in the classroom.

The first step to turning your paper plate into Mickey Mouse is to do some painting. We used red and black paint to give it the look of Mickey’s outfit.
To make this effect, your child will need to paint half the plate black and the other half red. To help them know where to paint each color, I suggest drawing a line down the center of the plate before they start painting.

While you’re waiting for the red and black paint to dry, your kids can cut the ears for their Mickey craft. They’ll need two round circles cut from black paper. You can draw the circles on the paper for them with a white colored pencil or let them freehand it.

When the paint is completely dry, glue each round ear to the top of the black section of the plate.

Then, attach the two white buttons to the center of the plate with some glue.
Mickey Mouse Craft Ideas
Your kids are going to have a blast making their own Mickey DIY with supplies you have on hand. Whether you’re putting together this cute craft at home, in the classroom, or at Bible School, it’s sure to be a hit with everyone involved.

And since this Disney themed craft is so simple to make, it’s also easy to customize! Try these craft ideas as you’re putting your own art project together to create an adorable Mickey with your kids today.
- Use red and black construction paper. Skip the mess of paint by using red and black paper to make the shirt and pants for your Mickey. Glue the two pieces of paper to the plate, then flip the plate over and trim the edges into a circle.
- Use a paper plate for the ears. If you don’t have any black paper at home, simply paint a second paper plate black. When the paint is dry, cut out two circles from the painted plate and glue them to the top of the plate.
- Replace the buttons with paint or paper. Don’t have any white buttons on hand? Use white paint to add the buttons to the front of the plate. Or cut out two small circles from white paper to create the buttons!
