You’re not going to believe how easy it is to make these wood block Christmas trees! And the best part is that you can buy one wooden block game from Dollar Tree for $1.25 and make several trees.
That means this Dollar Tree Christmas craft is one of the most budget-friendly projects you can make this holiday season!
Jenga Block Christmas Tree
You only need five craft supplies to put these rustic Christmas trees together. And you can find everything you need to make them at the dollar store.
To make your own stack game Christmas trees, you’ll need just a handful of cheap craft supplies, including:
- Dollar Tree tumbling tower blocks or Jenga blocks. You can find this Dollar Tree tumbling tower game in the toy section of the store. The blocks that come with the game are slightly smaller than traditional Jenga blocks, so you can decide which wood blocks you want to use depending on how big you want your trees to be. If you would rather use larger blocks, you can grab a Jenga game at any store, like Dollar General, usually for under $10.
- Paint. My Jenga Christmas trees were made with black and white paint. You can typically find acrylic paint in the craft aisle at Dollar Tree or grab some cheap chalk paint from Wal-Mart!
- Buffalo check bows. I found my black and white buffalo check bows at Dollar Tree in the seasonal section. You can use any color or pattern of ribbon you want to add your own bow to the top of each tree!
- Glue. I used my hot glue gun to secure all the wooden blocks together to form the Christmas tree shape. But wood glue would also work for assembling your own craft at home.
How to Make Jenga Block Christmas Trees
Turning a block stacking game from Dollar Tree into adorable holiday trees couldn’t be easier! With the help of your hot glue gun and some paint, you can put together these cute decorations for your farmhouse home in a matter of minutes.
The first step is to decide how big you want your trees. I made two different sizes. the smaller one used five blocks on each side and the larger one used seven blocks on each side.
Once you have your blocks arranged in the Christmas tree shape, it’s time to glue them together. Create a staggered pattern with the blocks, gluing the two ends together until you’ve reached your desired size. Make sure to space each block evenly on both sides to ensure the sides of your tree are the same length!
After you have all your blocks put together in the shape of a tree, make the bottom part of the tree by gluing two blocks together lengthwise. For my larger tree, I glued three blocks together to form the base.
Then, attach the base to your sides by gluing the ends of each side to the ends of the base blocks. After that, you can glue the top of the tree together by pressing the ends of the top blocs together to form a point.
Now all that’s left to do is make the trunk! If you want your trees to stand up on their own, I recommend using three blocks to form a sturdy trunk for your Christmas trees. Glue the three blocks together and squeeze them tight until the glue dries.
After that, glue the trunk to the base of the Christmas tree and hold it in place until the glue dries to make sure it’s secure.
Once you have your trees assembled, you can leave them as-is or paint them. Since I grabbed some black and white ribbon to decorate the tops of the trees, I decided to paint mine black and white.
After allowing the paint to dry, just glue your ribbon to the top of the trees and you’re finshed!

On top of being a budget-friendly craft idea, these fun Christmas trees are completely customizable! Try these craft ideas to create some unique decorations for your tree this year.
- Make them any size you want. You can easily adjust the size of your Christmas trees to be taller, shorter, wider, or thinner depending on the number of building blocks you use. Just experiment with the placement and number of blocks until you find a style that fits your decorating style.
- Paint them different colors. Another fun way to customize your trees is with your paint color. Black and white is great for a farmhouse look. But you can use any color (or colors) of paint you want to create a unique decoration for your home!
- Add some ornaments. Check out the ornament section of your dollar store to find mini ornaments that are perfect for decorating your own trees. You can use ribbon or glue to attach the ornaments to the sides of your tree.
