And while you can use Dollar Tree candles to create these cute decorations for a budget-friendly dollar store Christmas craft, there are so many other great ways to use your Rae Dunn SVGs!
To make your own Rae Dunn candles at home, you’ll need just a few simple craft supplies, including:
- Dollar Tree candles. My dollar store had several different colors to choose from in these tall glass candles, including red, green, and white. That makes them perfect for Christmas crafting!
- White vinyl. Since I used red candles for my craft, I chose to use white vinyl to add my text to the glass. If you use white candles, try using red or green vinyl to add a holiday look to your decorations.
- Transfer tape. The best way to add the vinyl Rae Dunn letters to your candles is with the help of transfer tape.
- Cricut: To cut the face for your ghost jars, you’ll need a cutting machine to cut the vinyl. I use the Cricut Explore Air 2 and love it!

How to Make Rae Dunn Christmas Candles
Click the link above to download your SVG cut file for your Cricut. After downloading, the file may be in a zip folder. If it is, unzip the folder to access the file. Then you’re ready to start crafting!
Once your SVG files are downloaded, upload the file into Cricut Design Space. The file should load as a cut image with a transparent background.
After uploading the SVG file, you can decide which phrases you want to use on your candles. If there is a phrase you don’t want to cut, just select all the letters in the word or phrase and hit delete.
Then, select all the letters of each phrase and use the weld tool to blend all the letters together into one group.
Once you have the letters welded together, resize the words to fit on your candles.
now that you have your letters welded and the words resized, you can decide whether you want to cut all the words in a single color or use different colored vinyl on your candles.
If you plan to cut the design using different colors. Use the color swatch tool at the top of the program to select the color of vinyl you plan to use for each phrase.
When you send your phrases to your Cricut to cut the vinyl, it will prompt you to add the correct color of vinyl to your cutting mat for each part of the design.
Before cutting, make sure to check to make sure your Cricut is set to cut vinyl, then send the design to the machine.
Use your weeding tool to remove the extra vinyl from around the design. Then, you can place a piece of transfer tape over the top of the words to help you transfer the text from the backing paper to the candles.
Then all that’s left to do is place the words on the candles. I like to use my scraper tool to help transfer the vinyl to the surface, but an old credit card is also a great option for this part of the craft.
