Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love just about everything about it — especially the fall flavors! Apple and pumpkin are two of my favorite fall flavors. And that means I love all kinds of apple desserts!

But if you’re on Weight Watchers, finding delicious desserts can be difficult. But this yummy gluten free apple crumble uses oats to create the crust, which means it’s perfect for the Weight Watchers purple plan!

Does Weight Watchers Have a Gluten Free Program?

While Weight Watchers doesn’t have a program specifically designed for a gluten free diet, one of the three diet plans you can choose from is perfect for anyone who is gluten free! The program has three different programs designated by colors — green, blue, and purple. Each offers it’s own set of zero point foods. While all the plans can accomodate a gluten free diet, the purple plan is especially great for anyone who’s gluten free!

On the purple plan, you can enjoy a variety of gluten free foods for zero points, including:

  • All fruits and vegetables
  • Brown rice and brown rice pasta
  • Oats
  • Popcorn
  • Lean protein

Gluten Free Apple Crumble Recipe

Since oats are a zero point food on the purple plan, you can make this version of a gluten free apple crumble for only three points per serving!

To make these easy Weight Watchers apple crumble, you’ll need:

  • Gluten free oats
  • Cinnamon
  • Brown sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Light vegetable oil spread
  • Apples
  • Cornstarch
  • Lemon juice

Those simple ingredients create a delicious dessert that can be enjoyed on Weight Watchers!

To make your own gluten free apple crumble, you’ll need to start with your apples. Peel and dice the apples into bite-size pieces, then mix them with brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples, then pour them into a prepared baking dish.

Spread the apples in an even layer in your baking dish. The beauty of this Weight Watchers apple crumble is that you can add more apples to the dish without adding any more points! If you would like to make this a bigger dessert, simply add more apples to the bowl before tossing.

Set your apples aside and grab another medium bowl. Before you can mix your crust, you’ll need to prepare your oats. For this recipe, you’ll use a total of 2 1/4 cups oats. Measure out 1 1/4 cups of oats and add them to your blender. Blend the oats until ground to a fine powder. Add those oats to the bowl, along with the remaining one cup of old fashioned oats. Then, mix in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder.

After all the ingredients are well combined, add in your melted vegetable oil spread. For this recipe, I used light Country Crock to help keep the points low. If you’re making this as a traditional gluten free apple crumble, you can use regular butter in place of the vegetable oil spread and get the same results!

Stir to combine the butter with the rest of the dry ingredients. When it’s fullyl incorporated into the dry mixture, sprinkle the oats over the top of your apples. Make sure they’re spread out in an even layer covering all the apples.

Bake the gluten free apple crumble in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. When the crust is crisp and golden brown, it’s ready to come out of the oven. Allow the crumble to cool for around 30 minutes before serving. You can enjoy this delicious Weight Watchers gluten free recipe warm or at room temperature.
