Air Fryer Fried Pickles Recipe
The trick to making these delicious gluten free fried pickles in the air fryer is double-dipping them in a gluten free batter followed by a dip in gluten free breadcrumbs. That way, you have a nice coating of crunch on top of the crunchy pickles. So good!!!

The first step to making your fried pickles is soaking as much of the pickle juice out of the pickles as you can. Place your pickles on a single row on top of a paper towel. Then place another paper towel on top and press down on the pickles. Soaking up all the liquid from the pickles will ensure your batter sticks to the pickles as you fry them in the air fryer.
Are Pickles Gluten Free?
If you’re wondering are pickles gluten free — they are! Just take a look at the ingredients on most pickles, and you’ll see that almost all brands have gluten free dill pickles, which are the best kind of pickles for fried pickles. My favorite pickles for making my fried pickles gluten free is Vlasic. On top of not having any gluten, these pickles have a great crunch, which is perfect for making gluten free deep fried pickles.
Batter for Air Fryer Fried Pickles
While your pickles are drying, gather up your ingredients. I have found that when making gluten free recipes, brands definitely matter! This is especially true for versions of ingredients that traditionally contain gluten, like flour and bread crumbs.
My favorite gluten free flour is Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 gluten free baking flour. I use it for everything I make gluten free, whether I’m baking or not! And for this recipe, I used 4C gluten free bread crumbs. They have a nice panko-like texture that’s perfect for adding crunch to your gluten free fried pickles as you fry them in the air fryer.

Start mixing up your batter by whisking together your batter ingredients — gluten free flour, baking powder, black pepper, paprika, a pinch of cayenne, milk, and eggs. That pinch of hot pepper adds a nice punch to the batter. You’ll need that additional flavor when frying your pickles in the air fryer to replace the flavor lost from not using oil.

After your batter begins to resemble a thick pancake batter, it’s time to start dipping your pickles! Dip each of your pickle chips into the gluten free batter, making sure the entire pickle is covered.
Air Fryer Fried Pickles with Bread Crumbs

On top of a delicious batter, this recipe also uses gluten free bread crumbs to add a little bit more crunch to the appetizer. Fill a small bowl with bread crumbs and season them with some salt, if needed.

Then, dip each of the batter-covered pickle chips into the bread crumbs, making sure to coat the pickles entirely with bread crumbs.
How to Make Air Fryer Fried Pickles

Before placing your covered pickle chips in the air fryer, you’ll need to let the pickles rest for a few minutes. This step is essential when frying your pickles in the air fryer. It allows the batter to really adhere to the pickles, which helps keep the batter and breadcrumbs from sliding off inside the air fryer.

After your pickles have rested for a few minutes, carefully place them in the air fryer basket. Make sure the pickles are close, but not touching inside the basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to make these fried pickles in several batches.

Cook the pickles in the air fryer at 400 degrees for seven to 10 minutes. I set my air fryer for 10 minutes, then checked them at five, seven, and nine minutes. After nine minutes they were nice and crispy and ready to eat!

Since these delicious air fryer fried pickles use gluten free ingredients and are cooked without oil, they’re perfect for Weight Watchers. Gluten free flour and gluten free bread crumbs both have lower points values than traditional flour and bread crumbs. And cooking these fried pickles in the air fryer instead of frying them in oil reduces the amount of points even more! That means you can eat four of these Weight Watchers fried pickles for just one point!
