Dog Themed Birthday Party Food
I love serving snack mix at kid’s parties because it’s always a big hit! This snack mix was no exception! Everyone loved the sweet and salty combo of snacks in this puppy chow snack mix. The snack mix was served in newsprint snack cups to add to the theme.
At our dog themed birthday party, I made a snack mix with dog-themed elements to tie in with the theme. This puppy chow snack mix was made with:
I also added some paw and bone shaped chocolates that I made by melting chocolate into these cute dog-themed molds. For the paws, I used milk chocolate chips and the bones were made with white chocolate.
I also used some of the dog-themed chocolates to decorate the birthday cake. I just alternated between bones and paw prints around the edge of the cake to create a simple decoration.
The cake was a devil’s food cake with some delicious chocolate icing. I cheated and used a cake mix for the cake to make things a little easier on myself. But I did make the icing from scratch. I used this amazing recipe from Mindee’s Cooking Obsession and it was delicious!
The dessert selection at my dog themed birthday party also included bone shaped rice krispies treats. To make these treats, I just followed the directions on the back of the box to make treats, then tossed in some sprinkles to add a little color. After the treats were set, I used a bone shaped cookie cutter to cut out bone treats for the party.
We held our party in the evening and made dinner for our guests. Since the party was outside, we decided to grill. For the dog themed party, I thought a hot dog and hamburger bar would be the perfect option!
We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and set out a variety of topping options for our guests. At my dog themed birthday party, I had bacon, onion, pickles, relish, jalapeno, chili, ketchup, mustard, and BBQ sauce on the hot dog bar.
Then, I created some fun combinations of toppings to give our guests a few ideas. And I gave them fun dog names to fit with the dog themed birthday party!
The party menu also included some traditional BBQ sides. I served corn on the cob because that’s the birthday boy’s favorite food! I also made macaroni and cheese and potato salad. The sides were served in plastic dog bowls.
Dog Party Decorations
To decorate the food table, I started with a plain white tablecloth. Then, I added red and teal bandanas to the top of the tablecloth to add a pop of color. I also used some cute dog toys to decorate the table. I think these little dogs were one of my son’s favorite parts of the party! Especially since he got to play with them when the party was over!
