  • Crescent roll dough sheets. To make these mummy pizza pockets, I suggest using crescent roll dough sheets instead of the pre-cut triangles. But if you can’t find any dough sheets at your store, you can use the triangles by pinching together the seams before you start slicing the dough.
  • Pizza sauce and toppings. We made our mummy pizza pockets with pizza sauce, pepperoni slices, and mozzarella cheese. But you can fill your pizzas with any type of toppings you like! Scroll to the bottom of the post to get more filling ideas!
  • Butter and garlic powder. Add even more flavor to each bite of your crescent roll mummies by topping them with melted butter and a sprinkling of garlic powder.

To make these cute pizza pockets, you’ll need to packages of crescent roll dough sheets. Unwrap the first sheet and lay it out on a flat surface. Then, cut the sheet into 8 even rectangles

Arrange the pizza rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This will help keep your crescent rolls from sticking to the pan as they bake.

Spread a small amount of pizza sauce over the top of each rectangle. Make sure to keep the sauce away from the edges of the dough. You’ll need this part of the dough clean to ensure that your top crust sticks to the sides and your filling doesn’t leak out as the pizzas bake.

On top of your pizza sauce, you can add your pizza toppings. We used pepperoni slices for our pizza mummies and kept a couple of them plain for the kids who only like cheese pizza.

In addition to pepperoni, there are tons of other toppings you can add inside your pizza pockets, including:

  • Crumbled sausage
  • Ground beef
  • Chopped bacon
  • Sliced Canadian bacon or ham
  • Banana peppers
  • Sliced olives
  • Mushroom slices
  • Sliced bell pepper
  • Chopped onion
  • Sliced jalapeno peppers

Basically any topping you put on a pizza can be added to the inside of your pizza pockets!

Once you have your pizza toppings added, it’s time to top them with some shredded cheese. Add a nice pile of shredded mozzarella cheese to the top of each pizza pocket, making sure to keep all the toppings and cheese in the center of the rectangle.

Now that you have all the filling for your pizza pockets ready to go, it’s time to turn them into mummies. Unwrap your second roll of crescent roll dough and unroll it. Cut it into eight even rectangles roughly the same size as the first set you cut.

Then cut each rectangle into horizontal strips around 1/2 inch thick.

Arrange the dough strips over the top of the pizza toppings. You may need to stretch them slightly to fully cover all the toppings and reach the other side. Lightly press the dough strips down on each side of the mummy to secure them in place.

When you have all of your mummy bandages placed on top of your pizza pockets, brush some melted butter over the top of each pizza. Then, sprinkle a small amount of garlic powder over each mummy.

While this part of the recipe is optional, it does add tons of flavor to the dough and helps the crescent roll crust brown as it bakes.

Decorate each crescent roll pizza mummy with sliced olive eyes when you’re ready to bake your Halloween appetizers. After that, pop them in the oven and bake until the crust is golden brown, which usually takes 12 to 15 minutes.

When you’re ready to serve your pizza pockets, fill a small bowl with sauce so you can serve your mummies with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

  • Add different filling. There so many delicious options for filling when making these mummy pizza pockets. Simply fill your pizzas with your favorite toppings and add the dough bandages on top to customize this recipe with ease.
  • Use pizza dough. Crescent roll dough is a great option because it’s light and fluffy. But you could also use premade pizza dough to make your mummy pizzas. Use the same method for creating the mummy pizza pockets, then follow the baking instructions on your pizza dough package.
  • Decorate with different eyes. I love the look of sliced olives for eyes, but if your family isn’t a fan of olives, you have a few different options to choose from. You can decorate your pizzas with candy eyes or simply add two mini pepperoni slices to serve as the mummy’s eyes.

Can I Make Mummy Pizza Pockets with Regular Crescent Roll Dough?

This recipe is easy to make when you use crescent roll dough sheets. But those can sometimes be hard to find! Luckily, it’s easy to turn regular crescent roll dough into a dough sheet.

First, pinch the seams of each crescent roll triangle together to form a full sheet. Then, use a rolling pin to help flatten the pinched seams.

Once the seams are pinched together, you can follow the instructions in the recipe as written.
