This easy Halloween dinner idea is so simple to make! But the best part about this recipe for mummy pizza is that you probably already have everything you need to make them! To create your own mummy pizza you’ll need:
- sandwich rolls
- butter
- pizza sauce and toppings
- string cheese
- candy eyes
On top of being simple to make, these easy mummy pizzas are also very easy to adapt to your kid’s tastes! And they work well for a variety of occasions! You could make them for your next Halloween party, serve them as a fun Halloween family dinner, or make them as a cool Halloween-themed after school snack for your kids.
However you plan to serve these mummy mini pizzas, I’m sure everyone in your family will love them! So what are we waiting for? Let’s learn how to make this easy Halloween dinner!
Mini Mummy Pizza Recipe
Start by preheating the oven and preparing your mummy pizza “crust.” Instead of using a traditional pizza crust for these mini pizzas, I decided to make things super simple! Just cut a sandwich roll in half to create the crust for your pizzas. Spread a little bit of butter over the top of each half and place it in the oven to toast for a few minutes.
Toasting the bread before you add the sauce and toppings will keep the crust from getting soggy. So, when the edges of the rolls are toasted and golden brown around the edges, remove them from the oven add add your toppings.
Start with the sauce, then add your kid’s favorite toppings. My kids love pepperoni pizza, so I added a few slices of pepperoni to each pizza. But you can customize this part of the recipe to suit your kid’s needs. You could create a meat mummy pizza by adding pepperoni, sausage and bacon. Or make a veggie mummy pizza with bell peppers, mushrooms, and olives.
Now it’s time to have a little fun with your Halloween dinner! Create mini mummy faces with your string cheese. Start by pulling the string cheese apart to create strips. I made my strings different sizes to create an uneven look to my Halloween mummy pizzas.
After all the string cheese has been pulled apart, start placing it on the pizza. Try to alternate the placement of each strip to create an uneven look to your mummy face, while also making sure there is enough cheese covering the pizza.
After each mummy has been wrapped, place your pizzas back in the oven. Allow them to bake for a few more minutes to give the toppings time to warm up and enough time for the cheese to melt completely.
Remove the mummy pizzas from the oven when the cheese is melted. Then, finish decorating each mummy pizza with a pair of candy eyes. Allow the pizzas to cool slightly before serving.
