Finding delicious gluten free appetizers can sometimes be so hard. And if you’re also looking for keto-friendly or low carb options, you don’t have many choices for your next party. They’re gluten free and low carb, but they taste so great that anyone can enjoy them — even if they don’t have dietary restrictions.

- Dill pickle spears
- Cream cheese
- Fully cooked bacon
That’s it! Just combine these three simple ingredients, pop the wrapped pickles in the oven, and enjoy!
How to Make Bacon Wrapped Pickles

The first step to making your pickle appetizers is to prepare the pickles. For this recipe, I used pickle spears because they provide a bigger space for stuffing and wrapping. To get your pickles ready, first use a spoon or butter knife to remove the seeds from the top of each spear. Then, place a paper towel on top of the pickles to soak up extra moisture. Once the pickles are somewhat dry, cut each pickle spear into four even pieces.

After your pickles are ready, it’s time to add your cream cheese. Make sure you use softened cream cheese so it’s easier to spread on top of each of your pickles.
Taking the time to dry your pickles before you spread the cream cheese is important because if you don’t, the cheese won’t stick! Starting with a dry pickle makes adding the cheese so much easier.

When each of your pickle pieces is topped with cream cheese, you can start wrapping. For this recipe, I used fully cooked bacon to avoid the extra cook time and grease that comes along with baking bacon in the oven.
Cut each bacon strip in half, then wrap one half around each pickle piece. Secure the ends of the bacon in place with a toothpick, then place each pickle bite on a baking sheet. Bake the pickles for 10 minutes to give the bacon time to get crispy and the cream cheese to slightly melt.
Serve your bacon wrapped pickles warm or room temperature for the best flavor.

Questions About This Pickle Appetizer Recipe
Making these easy bacon wrapped pickles stuffed with cream cheese is so simple. But if you have questions, check out these commonly asked questions to find the answer:
Are bacon wrapped pickles gluten free?
Yes! Each of the ingredients in these pickle appetizers are gluten free, which means you can enjoy them at your next party. While most varieties of dill pickles are gluten free, it’s still a good idea to check the label to ensure the brand you’re using doesn’t have any gluten-containing ingredients.
Can I use uncooked bacon?
I would not suggest using uncooked bacon for this recipe. If you have ever cooked bacon in the oven, you know how greasy it gets as it cooks. While your bacon cooks in the oven, the grease will get absorbed by the pickles and cream cheese, leaving you with a messy appetizer.
Another drawback of using uncooked bacon when wrapping your pickles is that the bacon will take much longer to cook than the pickles and cream cheese. While you’re waiting for your bacon to get crispy, you’ll risk burning your pickles and causing the cream cheese to melt completely out of the center of the pickles.
Can I add more cheese?
Of course! There’s no reason you couldn’t add more cheese to your stuffed pickles! There are so many different shredded cheese options to choose from when deciding what type of cheese to use in your stuffed pickles. Here are a few ideas:
- Sharp cheddar cheese
- Pepper jack cheese
- Taco blend shredded cheese
- Colby jack cheese
- Monterry jack cheese
Must mix the shredded cheese into the cream cheese before you spread it on your pickles for some extra-cheesy goodness in each bite.
Are these bacon wrapped pickles with cream cheese low carb?
Since this pickle appetizer recipe only contains three ingredients: pickles, cream cheese, and bacon, the recipe does not contain any carbs! That means its perfect for anyone on keto.

I am the only carnivore in my home. Have you or anyone tried it with veggie bacon (which is pretty close to real bacon- we call it “facon”)? I just wondered how the partially cooked veggie bacon fairs in the oven. I have a pickle-loving kiddo.
I haven’t tried veggie bacon before, so I’m not sure now it would work. I would check the package to see if there’s directions for cooking it in the oven, then just follow the cook time on there!
Those look super fun! And almost Valentine-y! 🙂 Here from TFT!
