And with the addition of BBQ sauce, you have a flavorful snack perfect for any occasion. To make this easy BBQ slider recipe, you’ll need:

  • Hawaiian rolls. These adorable little rolls are the perfect size for mini sandwiches! I used Hawaiian rolls to add sweetness to the appetizers but you can also use butter rolls if you prefer.
  • Shredded chicken. You can use any cooked and shredded chicken to make these baked sliders. Use up your leftover chicken, shred some rotisserie chicken, or even use canned chicken.
  • BBQ sauce. Dress up your plain chicken with your favorite BBQ sauce. You can add more or less sauce to the chicken depending on how saucy you want your sliders.
  • Bacon. Add even more flavor to your sliders with the help of bacon! You’ll need cooked bacon for this part of the sandwich. You can cook your own fresh bacon or used pre-cooked slices for faster prep work.
  • Shredded cheese. I topped my BBQ sliders with shredded fiesta blend cheese, but you can use your favorite cheese variety. Cheddar, Colby jack, or even mozzarella cheese would work well!
  • Butter and seasoning. Make sure your sliders are nice and crispy, add some butter to the top. Sprinkle the butter with some seasoning salt for an extra pop of flavor!

Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise to create top and bottom buns. Set the top buns aside and place the bottom buns on a baking sheet. Then, spread the BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom buns.

Cut each piece of bacon in half and arrange the pieces over the top of the shredded chicken.

Next, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the bacon. Lightly press the cheese in place to keep it from falling off.

Then, place the top buns on top of the cheese. Brush the butter over the top of the buns, and sprinkle the seasoning over the top of the butter.

After that, all that’s left to do is put the sliders in the oven! Bake them for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the buns are nice and toasty!

How do I store BBQ sliders?

These mini sandwiches taste best when they come fresh out of the oven. But if you have a few extras when your get-together is over, they should be stored in the refrigerator. Cover the leftovers with plastic wrap or transfer them to an airtight container and they’ll stay good for up to 3 days.

You can reheat your sliders in the oven at 350 degrees. Or heat them in the microwave in 30 second intervals until warmed through.

BBQ Chicken Sliders Substitutions

This delicious appetizer is perfect on its own. But that doesn’t mean you can’t change up the recipe if you want to mix things up! Try these substitution ideas to create a delicious party snack for your next get-together.

  • Use BBQ seasoning. If you want to add even more BBQ flavor to your sliders, try sprinkling some BBQ seasoning over the top of the buns before you bake them.
  • Add some toppings. Dress up your baked sliders with toppings, like coleslaw, chopped lettuce, or pickles.
  • Try different cheeses. The fiesta blend of cheese gives this appetizer an extra kick of flavor. But if you want a different flavor, try using Monterrey jack, mozzarella, pepper jack, or mild cheddar instead.
  • Use different meat. Shredded chicken is a great option because most people have it on hand. But you can also use shredded pork or turkey in place of the chicken.
