Before you can start putting together your own movie night basket, you’ll need to grab some filler material to help fill up your gift. I grabbed two bags of paper shreds from the gift wrap aisle of the dollar store to fill in the bottom of my extra-large popcorn tub. In addition to paper shreds, you could also use tissue paper to help fill up your basket.
Movie Night Gift Basket Snacks

Once you have your filler placed in the bottom of the basket, it’s time to start adding the snacks! Because you can’t have a family movie night without snacks!
First, I added a few salty snacks to the basket. And since there are tons of delicious salty snacks to choose from, the sky is the limit when creating your own movie gift!
Consider adding these snacks to your basket:
- Popcorn
- Popcorn kernels
- Popcorn salt
- Combos
- Corn nuts
- Peanuts, almonds, cashews, or mixed nuts
- Potato chips
- Snack crackers, like Goldfish or Cheez-its
- Crunchy or soft pretzels
- Tortilla chips and nacho cheese
- Microwave popcorn bags
- Movie theater butter spray
- Oil for popping popcorn
- Seasoning salt flavors

In addition to salty snacks, you also need to add a few sweet treats to your gift. Help satisfy your friend’s sweet tooth by adding a few of these candy and other sweets to your basket.
- Movie theater candy boxes
- Fun size candy bars
- Individual packages of cookies
- Fruit snacks
- Gummy candy
- Hard candy
- Homemade treats, like cookies or brownies
- Mini candy bags
- Caramel corn or Cracker Jacks
Movie Night Gift Basket Drinks
In addition to sweet and salty snacks, you could also add a few drinks into your movie night basket if there’s room! These drink ideas would make the perfect addition to your gift:
- Soda cans or bottles
- Hot chocolate
- Chocolate drinks, like YooHoo
- Juice boxes or pouches
- Cocktail mixers
Movie Night Gift Basket Fillers
Food and drinks aren’t the only way to fill up a movie night basket! There are a variety of other fun items you can add to your gift to make it extra special. Try sticking in some of these items to level up your next gift basket:
- Gift cards for movie streaming platforms, like Redbox or Netflix
- Individual popcorn containers or bags
- Movie themed drinking cups
- DVDs or Blurays
- Throw blanket
- Movie night decorations
Movie Night Basket Gift Tag
Once you have your basket filled with movie night treats and sweets, it’s time to decorate! My favorite way to decorate all my DIY gifts is with a cute and festive gift tag.

To make your own movie gift basket, you’ll need to print out my free gift tags. To get your own, simply subscribe to my email list, print them out on cardstock, and tie them to your gift.

AFTER SUBSCRIBING, YOU’LL RECEIVE A WELCOME EMAIL WITH A PASSWORD EXCLUSIVELY FOR MY SUBSCRIBERS. IF YOU DON’T SEE THE MESSAGE SHORTLY AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR JUNK OR SPAM FOLDERS AND ADD MY EMAIL AS TO YOUR SAFE LIST! I’LL KEEP YOU UP-TO-DATE ON NEW FREEBIES REGULARLY AFTER THAT.

After downloading your printable tags, print them out on white cardstock and cut the tags out around the outer border. You can attach the tag to your gift basket with ribbon by punching a hole in the corner and threading the ribbon through the hole. Or simply place the tag in the front of the gift basket.
Either way, don’t forget to sign your name to the back before adding it to your DIY gift!

Once you have all your gift basket supplies ready to go, all that’s left to do is arrange them in the basket! I suggest starting with some basket filler, like paper shreds. You can find paper shreds in a variety of different colors in the gift wrap section of the dollar store.
After filling your basket, start by adding the larger items, like the popcorn bags and jar of popcorn kernels in the back. Then, place the medium sized stuff, like the candy boxes and seasoning shaker in the center. Finish by putting the cute mug and gift tag right in the front.
Before you attach your gift tag to the front of the jar, make sure to sign your name on the back!
