Witch Hat Oreo Cookies
To make these fun witch hat Oreo cookies, you’ll start with Oreo cookies. Then, you’ll decorate those cookies to turn them into a cute Halloween snack.
To make this easy witches hat cookies recipe, you’ll need:
- Fudge covered Oreos. To make the process of decorating this Halloween cookies super simple, I used fudge covered Oreo cookies as the base. You can also use regular Oreos, gluten free Oreos, Halloween Oreos, or cover your own Oreo cookies in chocolate before you decorate them.
- Orange icing. Did you know that Pillsbury makes pre-colored icing? To decorate my witch hats, I used Pillsbury Funfetti Orange All-Star frosting. You can also use orange food coloring to dye plain white icing.
- Hershey’s Kisses. The top of these no bake cookies is made using Hershey’s Kisses. I used plain Kisses, but you can use any variety you want!
- Halloween sprinkles. Adding sprinkles to your witch hat cookies is optional, but it does add a fun touch to the look of the finished product. I used black and orange nonperils to decorate the top of my cookies.
How to Make Witch Hat Cookies
These layered cookies are quick and easy to make because there’s no baking involved! Just follow these four simple steps to prepare this simple no-bake treat in a matter of minutes.
Before you start decorating, take a few minutes to get all your supplies ready to go. Spread out the fudge covered Oreos on a flat surface. Since you’ll be using sprinkles, I suggest placing them on a cutting board to make clean-up a little easier. After that, unwrap all your Hershey’s Kisses.
To get your icing ready for decorating, scoop a few spoonfuls of the frosting into a quart-sized zip-top bag or a piping bag. Cut the tip off one corner of the bag to turn it into a piping bag. This will help keep your dollops of orange icing uniform and keep you from adding too much icing to the top of each cookie.
Top each cookie with a small amount of orange icing. One small dollop is all you need to hold the Hershey’s Kisses in place on top of your cookies.
After topping each Oreo with icing, press the Hershey’s Kisses into the top of each icing mound. Try to keep the Kiss in the center of the icing so you have the same amount of icing peeking out all around the bottom of your Kiss.
Finish decorating your witch hat cookies by adding some sprinkles to the top of each Oreo. Spread the sprinkles evenly over the exposed icing, then pick up the cookie and lightly tap it on the side of the cutting board to remove the extra sprinkles that aren’t stuck to the icing.
Witch Hat Cookie Ideas
These Halloween witch hat cookies are so simple to make, which means you can easily change up the recipe to make them your own! Try these recipe ideas to create a cute and delicious treat for the kids at your party.
Make gluten free witch hat cookies. Now that Oreo has released a gluten free version of their cookies, you can make your own gluten free witch hats. Simply substitute traditional Oreo cookies for gluten free ones when making your no bake treats. You can use the cookies as-is. Or dip them in melted chocolate before topping them with icing and Kisses. The rest of the ingredients in this recipe are already gluten free!
Use different colors of icing. The combination of orange and black are classic for Halloween. But you could change the color of your icing to match your party’s theme. Purple and green are both popular color choices for witches.
Try different cookies. If you’re not a fan of Oreos, try making these treats with a different type of cookie. You can use chocolate cookies, like Keebler Fudge Stripes, or cover your favorite round cookies with chocolate before you decorate them.
