These cute toilet paper roll confetti poppers are great for your next summer get-together, especially if you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids! Just gather up all the supplies you’ll need to make them, then let the kids put them together. And later, they’ll have a blast popping them during your summer celebration.
Make Your Toilet Paper Roll Confetti Poppers
Since there are so many different ways you can decorate your toilet paper roll confetti poppers, the supplies you’ll need will depend on your decorations. But there are a few basic things you’ll need to make this cute summer craft — empty toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, confetti, and ribbon. For decorations, I also used some glittery star stickers and gold pipe cleaner.
Start by folding one piece of tissue paper in half lengthwise and placing the empty toilet paper roll on top. Then, roll the paper over the toilet paper roll and secure it with a little bit of glue on the end.
Secure one end of the tissue paper with ribbon. Be sure to cut the ribbon longer than you’ll need to tie off the end. After the ribbon is tied in a knot on the end of the toilet paper roll, you can curl the ribbon to add a little decoration to each end of the toilet paper roll confetti popper.
Make the Confetti
The best part about this fun craft — especially to the kids — is the confetti inside the toilet paper roll confetti popper. There are a variety of things you can use as confetti for this craft. You can buy your own patriotic confetti or make your own. I made my confetti out of paper shreds from the gift wrap section of Dollar Tree.
To make your own confetti out of paper shreds, grab a handful of shreds and use a pair of scissors to cut them into tiny pieces. You could also use this method to create confetti out of extra tissue paper, construction paper, old mylar balloons, ribbon, or scrapbook paper.
After you have made your own confetti, it’s time to fill up the toilet paper roll confetti poppers! To put the confetti inside, simply pour the confetti into the open end of the confetti popper. Fill the toilet paper roll completely full of confetti, then use ribbon to tie the other end closed.
Now it’s time for the fun part — adding the decorations to your toilet paper roll confetti popper. Start by using a pair of scissors to curl the ribbons on each end. To do that, open the scissors and carefully place the ribbon on top of the sharp side of the scissors. Hold the ribbon in place with your finger and slowly run the sharp edge of the scissors along the length of the ribbon. On each end, I also placed a gold pipe cleaner. Just twist the pipe cleaner around the end then curl it by wrapping it around your finger a few times. Finally, add some stickers to the outside of the confetti popper.
