Cupcake wrappers are a great craft tool. Because they come in so many different colors and patterns, the crafting possibilities are endless! I found this package of cute cupcake wrappers in pink, yellow, and blue. So, knew I had to do something fun with them. That’s why I created this adorable flower craft for kids!
To make this easy flower craft for kids, you’ll need cupcake wrappers, buttons, green pipe cleaner, and colorful construction paper. I chose cupcake wrappers in bright spring colors with two different patterns to make my flower craft for kids.
How to Make This Flower Craft for Kids
The first step in making this flower craft for kids is to fold all the petals. This is a simple task your kids will have fun doing! Start by flattening the cupcake wrapper as much as possible, then fold it in half.
Then you will continue by folding that cupcake wrapper in half again. And then in half one more time. You’ll end up with a small petal shape — perfect for creating a flower craft for kids!
After you have all your petals folded — you’ll need eight of them to put the flower craft for kids together — it’s time to start assembling! Grab a complementary piece of construction paper and glue the stem on. I created the stem for my flower craft for kids by cutting a green pipe cleaner in half. Then, I glued it on to the paper to make sure it was secure.
When the stem is securely in place, start adding the petals. If you’re using different patterns or colors to create your flower crafts, consider alternating between each pattern as you glue the petals in place.
To give my flower craft for kids some dimension, I left the folded cupcake wrappers to freely move. If you would prefer a flatter flower, I suggest gluing each of the layers of the cupcake wrapper petals together. Otherwise, simply glue the bottom layer of the wrapper to the paper and let the folds open up .
A button is the perfect for the middle of your flower because it covers the center of the flower where all the petals meet. To finish the flower, simply glue a button right in the middle of your flower craft for kids.
Then add the finishing touch on this flower craft for kids — the leaves. To make those, fold a green cupcake wrapper the same way you folded the petals. Finish by gluing them into place. Then, step back and admire your work!
And look at this pretty yellow flower! See how many possibilities there are to create an adorable flower craft for kids with cupcake wrappers?
