We’ll be doing homeschool preschool with my youngest son this year. To learn letters, we’ll be doing the letter of the week program. And you know what that means — we’ll be doing tons of fun letter crafts for preschoool! This adorable B is for bus letter B craft is a great way to teach about the letter B while having a little bit of fun at the same time. It’s a simple craft for kids that’s also educational.

One of the fun parts of using the letter of the week curriculum is that you get to come up with fun ways to use each letter. This week, we’re practicing the letter B. And since my youngest son loves trucks, cars, and busses, creating a school bus out the letter B was a no-brainer.

B is for Bus Craft
Since you’ll be making this craft with a preschooler in mind, you’ll need to do a little bit of prep work before you get started. That means you’ll need to grab your scissors to cut out a few shapes for your preschooler to use as they make their letter B craft. Start by cutting a large B out of the yellow paper. This will be the base of your B is for Bus craft.
Then, cut a few different shapes from your black construction paper, including:
- a long thin strip
- two triangles
- two circles
Next, grab your red construction paper. Use that piece of paper to cut a schoolhouse shape. Since the schoolhouse will be on the edge of your paper, you only need half a schoolhouse for your letter B craft for preschoolers.
Finish getting your letter B craft ready for your preschooler to put together by cutting the grass for the picture. Just cut a two to three inch strip of green paper. Gather up all your shapes, and let your preschooler go to town! You can give them guidance or show them a picture of the finished craft and let them try to recreate it themselves.
Craft with the Letter B
Start by making your letter B bus by turning the yellow capital B on its side so the flat part of the letter is on the bottom. Ask your preschooler to glue the two black squares to each open space in the letter B to create the bus’s windows.
Next, flip the B bus over and decorate it with the thin black strip of paper on the top of the bus to add a decorative stripe.
Then, ask your preschooler to attach the wheels to the bottom of the bus. Finish by decorating the rest of your picture. Glue the green piece of paper at the bottom of your blue background. Add the schoolhouse to the side of the picture, then paste the finished school bus on the other side of the page.
Finally, your preschooler can decorate their bus further by adding some buttons to the wheels. Finish by adding the word “SCHOOL” to the side of the bus!
