How to Make 4th of July Taco Dip
After gathering up your ingredients, it’s time to start mixing and decorating your 4th of July appetizer! Luckily, it’s easy to turn your cold taco dip into an American flag!

Start by mixing together your taco dip ingredients, including the softened cream cheese, taco seasoning, sour cream, and shredded fiesta blend cheese.

After the ingredients are well combined, spread the mixture over the top of a serving plate. To create the flag design, you’ll need a rectangular serving dish.
Once the cream cheese mixture is evenly spread, cover the plate with plastic wrap and chill the cream cheese for at least one hour. This step will make it easier to build your dip and ensure that the cream cheese has stiffened.

After you have given the cream cheese time to chill, you can start to decorate your taco dip. I suggest waiting until you’re ready to serve the dip to put it together. That will ensure all the ingredients stay fresh and don’t get soggy.
Start by crushing up 5 or 6 blue corn tortilla chips. Arrange them in a square in the top left corner of your serving platter.

After that, make red and white stripes over the top of the dip by alternating rows of salsa and Monterrey Jack cheese.

After that, use a small star cookie cutter to cut out three stars from a flour tortilla. Place the stars on top of the blue section of your dip.
When you’re ready to serve your dip, arrange the remaining blue tortilla chips around the edges of the dish or in a bowl so your guests can start dipping!
What Can I Serve with Patriotic Taco Dip?
Now that you have your taco appetizer is ready to go, you’re probably wondering what to serve with it. In addition to the blue corn tortilla chips, these options are also a great choice:
- White or yellow corn tortilla
- Corn chips
- Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese Doritos
- Crackers
- Veggies, like carrot sticks, mini bell peppers, or celery

Taco Dip Storage and Serving
How Long Can Taco Dip Sit Out? Since this dip is made with cream cheese, I wouldn’t keep the dip out for more than two hours. After that, cover the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dip until you’re ready to eat it again.
How Long Can I Keep Taco Dip in the Fridge? If you cover your dip and keep it refrigerated, it will stay good for up to four days. Make sure to tightly wrap the dish in plastic wrap before placing it in the refrigerator to keep the cream cheese from hardening.
Substitution Ideas
If you want to change up the ingredients in this flag dip recipe, there are a few different substitutions you can make! Try these ideas to create a delicious dip everyone at your party will love:
- For the red stripes: taco sauce, ground beef with taco seasoning, Rotel, diced tomatoes
- For the white stripes: sour cream, shredded fiesta blend cheese
- For the blue square: sliced black olives, shredded lettuce, chopped green onion,
- For the stars: white cheese slices, white star sprinkles, sour cream piped with a star tip
