Using Pinterest for kids party planning is a great way to throw awesome kids birthday parties!

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a hybrid social network and search engine that allows users to share photos or videos (also known as pins) of their projects, recipes, and other ideas. After the pins are posted, users have the opportunity to look at those pins and save them to their own boards (a collection of pins with a common theme). Pinterest is a great way to get inspiration and ideas on everything from keeping your home clean to making an amazing Christmas cookie recipe. But one of my favorite ways to use Pinterest is for inspiration for all my DIY projects.

To use Pinterest for party planning, I suggest setting up a personal account and doing a search. Whether you start by searching a particular theme or just look for general kids party ideas, you’ll be surprised how many amazing ideas you’ll uncover! There are so many great ideas, in fact, that its easy to get sucked into the rabbit hole and get distracted from the task at hand! These simple tips will help you stay focused and make the most of using Pinterest for kids birthday party planning.

Birthday Party Planning Inspiration from Pinterest

My favorite way to use Pinterest for party planning is by getting inspiration. You can find so many amazing party ideas to choose from as you scroll through Pinterest. And there are a variety of ways you can gain inspiration by using the search platform.

If you’re unsure of what type of party to throw you child this year, start by searching for theme ideas. Typing in “popular boy party themes” or “birthday party ideas for a two year old” will uncover tons of unique ideas you can use to get the creative juices flowing! There are a variety of ways you can search Pinterest to find the perfect theme for your next kids birthday party. Try these different search tactics to look for a birthday party theme:

  • Search Pinterest by age
  • Look for ideas by gender
  • Search by your child’s interests

Once you have a theme narrowed down, you can quickly begin finding inspiration for your next kids birthday party by searching for that party theme on Pinterest. For example, I’m planning a puppy party for my soon to be two year old right now. So, I headed to Pinterest for inspiration! I started by searching “puppy party ideas” to get a few ideas. Then, I narrowed down my search by adding additional terms to the end, like “puppy party decorations,” “puppy party food,” and “puppy party invitations.” It’s also a good idea to look for variations on your theme to find even more inspiration (search for “dog party” instead of “puppy party,” for example).

Create Boards

One thing I love about using Pinterest for birthday party planning is that it helps me stay organized.  Creating a board for your party is a simple way to keep all your inspiration organized in one easy place. So, when you’re ready to start putting your party together, all your ideas are at your fingertips! To create a board for your next kid’s party, head to your Pinterest account and click on your profile. Select “Boards” from the menu located above your pins. Then, click on the red and white plus sign. Another simple way to create a board for your party is to click on a pin you’re interested in saving. After selecting a pin, click the drop-down menu to select a board to save it to. But instead of picking an existing board, click the red and white plus sign to create a new board.

Creating a board dedicated to each party you plan makes is so easy to keep all your ideas organized during the party planning process. But saving pins to your party board directly from Pinterest isn’t the only way to keep your birthday party planning in order. Read the next tip to see how to make the most of your party planning boards on Pinterest!

Pin from Other Websites

While getting inspiration from Pinterest is a great way to start your party planning, Pinterest isn’t the only place to find ideas for your next kid’s party. There are so many amazing places to find party inspiration and ideas around the internet. So, how do you keep all your ideas organized when you’re searching for inspiration from other sites around the web? Pinterest!

If you use Google Chrome for your web browsing, you’re in luck because this browser has an awesome extension that allows you to easily pin photos from any website with the click of a button. “Pinterest Save Button” is a simple browser extension that allows you to save images from across the web to your Pinterest boards. To install this extension, click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window, then select “more tools” from the drop-down menu. Choose “extensions from that menu, then search for “Pinterest Save Button” in the search box.

After the extension is installed, all you need to do is click the Pinterest symbol, which will appear next to the address bar in your Google Chrome browser, any time you see party inspiration from around the web. Here are a few ways to use this browser extension for party planning:

  • Save inspiration photos you find on the web or other social media networks
  • Save photos of party supplies that fit your theme
  • Save recipes that your guests would love

Find Freebies

Who doesn’t love a good freebie? If you’re on a budget, using freebies for your kid’s party is a great way to make your party look amazing without spending a ton of money! And you can find hundreds of amazing party freebies by searching Pinterest. There are so many great ways you can use printables for birthday party planning:

  • Party checklists to keep you organized
  • Printable invitations to invite your guests
  • Printable decorations, like food labels or decorative signs
  • Printable menu ideas
  • Printable budget trackers

The options are endless! And you can find so many awesome printables for all stages of your party planning on Pinterest. To keep you organized while you plan your party, search for “kids party planning printables” or “kids party checklist.” Then, search for more theme-specific printables to score some cool freebies you can use at your party.

And a lot of those amazing moms share their party planning secrets so you can create your own awesome kids parties.
