To make your own gluten free Oreo cheesecake at home, you’ll need just a handful of ingredients, including:

  • Gluten free Oreos. The most important ingredient in this simple dessert is gluten free Oreos! But they sometimes be difficult to find in the store because they never stay in stock for very long. If you aren’t able to find Oreos in your store, try using Glutino chocolate sandwich cookies instead.
  • Butter. To prepare the Oreo crust for your cheesecake in a jar, you’ll need butter. I used unsalted butter in my recipe. But you could probably substitute with salted butter to help balance out the sweetness of the Oreos.
  • Cream cheese. The filling for this no bake cheesecake is made with gluten free cream cheese. The key to getting creamy no bake cheesecake is using softened full-fat cream cheese. I wouldn’t recommend using reduced fat cheese in this recipe because you won’t get the right consistency in your filling.
  • Sour cream. Adding sour cream to your no bake cheesecake filling is a simple way to add some tang and balance the sweetness of the sugary ingredients.
  • Powedered sugar. In addition to adding some sweetness to your no bake cheesecake filling, the powdered sugar also helps stablize the filling ingredients.
  • Vanilla extract. Make sure to check the ingredient list of your vanilla extract to ensure that it’s gluten free. Some brands are made in plants that process gluten-containing ingredients, which means they aren’t safe to eat.

Is Oreo cheesecake gluten free?

Traditional Oreo cheesecake is not gluten free. And as far as I know, you can’t purchase premade gluten free Oreo cheesecake or a premade gluten free Oreo pie crust in the stores yet. That means you’ll need to make your own from scratch to ensure your dessert is gluten free!

No Bake Gluten Free Oreo Cheesecake

This quick recipe is made of two basic components — the gluten free Oreo crust and the no bake cheesecake filling. Luckily, both parts are super simple to make! Just follow the instructions below!

combine gluten free oreos with butter to make crust

Start by making the gluten free Oreo crust for your cheesecake bars by combining crushed Oreos with butter. You can crush your Oreos in two different ways for your cheescake crust:

  • By hand. To crush the cookies by hand, place all the cookies in a gallon sized storage bag and seal the top. Use a rolling pin to roll over the top of the cookies, then flip the bag over and roll over the cookies again several times. Keep repeating this process until the cookies are crushed into a fine crumb.
  • In a food processor. An easier way to crush the cookies is place them in a food processor. Seal the lid on the top and pulse the blades repeatedly until the cookies are crushed.

After combining the cookie crumbs and butter, stir the ingredients together until the cookie crumbs begin to stick together. Then, add a couple of spoonfuls of crust mixture to the bottom of each of your jars.

Lightly press the crumbs into the bottom of the jars to form a solid crust. I like using a tart tamper for this because it makes it easier to reach down into the bottom of the jars.

prepare the no bake cheesecake

Now that you have the crust ready to go, it’s time to make the cheesecake filling! Before mixing all the ingredients together, make sure your cream cheese is soft enough to stir. To soften your cream cheese, either leave it sitting out at room temperature for at least one hour or place it in the microwave in 30 second intervals to soften it.

Then, combine the cream cheese with the powdered sugar, sour cream, and vanilla. Beat the ingredients together until you have a smooth and creamy filling.

Once your filling ingredients are smooth and well combined, add the remaining crushed gluten free oreos to the cheesecake mixture. Carefully fold the cookie crumbs in the the cheesecake until they’re well mixed.

Finish your Oreo cheesecake in a jar by piping or spooning the cheesecake mixture into each jar over the top of the crust. If you plan on adding a topping to your desserts, I would suggest leaving a small amount of space at the top of the jar for some whipped cream or crumbled cookies. Otherwise, you can fill the cheesecake right to the top of each jar.

When the cheesecake jars are filled, place the lids on top of the jars and transfer them to the refrigerator to chill for at least one hour before serving.

I plan to make these in little mini plastic cups that do not have lids. Do you think if I cover them with plastic wrap overnight they will be good to go in the morning for a bridal shower reception at lunch. I am going to put whipped cream and a cookie on top as well, but that will be at lunchtime or before I put them out to serve.

    1. That should be fine! I would just wait to add the decorations on top until you’re ready to serve them to keep the cookie from getting soggy.
