This easy preschool project is perfect for just about any occasion because you only need a handful of common craft supplies to put it together. That makes this preschool turkey craft one of those easy projects perfect for the busy holiday season!

All you need to make this cute Thanksgiving DIY project with your kids is:

  • Clothespins: We used wooden clothespins from Dollar Tree to make our turkeys. But you can use colored plastic clothespins for the craft, too.
  • Feathers: You can’t make a turkey without feathers! Colorful feathers are a fun way to add texture and color to your craft.
  • Googly eyes: Make the face of your Thanksgiving turkey with some cute googly eyes. You can use sticker eyes or glue your own to the front of each turkey.
  • Orange paper: To finish making your turkey, you’ll need some orange paper. We used construction paper to make the beak of the turkey, but you can use any orange paper.

Start by decorating your turkey with colorful feathers. Attach the feathers to the inside of the clothespin by squeezing the bottom of the pin to open it up. Then, add some glue to the inside of the clip and carefully arrange the feathers.

Once you have all your feathers arranged how you like them, close the clip on the top of the features. You can carefully move the feathers around after the pin is closed, as long as the glue is still soft.

Let the glue dry on your feathers before adding the decorations to the turkey’s face. Once the glue is dry, attach your two googly eyes to the center of the clothespin.

After that, all that’s left to do is add the turkey’s beak! Cut a triangle out of the orange paper and attach it to the front of the clothespins with glue.

Try these different ideas for getting creative with your own turkey clothes pin craft while you’re making it at home:

  • Decorate with paint. Instead of using plain clothespins, let your kids add their own creative touch to their DIY turkey. Use plain wooden pins and give your kids some paint or markers to decorate their own Thanksgiving characters.
  • Make your own feathers. Using feathers is a fun way to create this simple kid’s craft. But if you don’t have any at home, you can also cut out feather shapes from construction paper to glue to the inside of your clothespins.
  • Add it to your homeschool preschool lesson plan. This simple craft is perfect for preschool at home. You can make your popsicle stick turkey when learning about the letter T. Or make the art project during the days leading up to Thanksgiving to help them learn while they celebrate.
