Make Your Own Summer Snacks for Parties
Start by grabbing your clothespins and washi tape. To decorate your clothespins, simply cut a piece of washi tape to fit the length of the clothespins and stick the tape on! Another easy easy way to decorate your clothespins is with markers or paint. Just let your kids get creative making their own designs on the clothespins before putting the snack craft together.
After decorating the clothespins, set them aside for a minute. It’s time to make the butterfly wings! Fill a sandwich sized zip-top bag about halfway full with fruit cereal. I used Froot Loops for my butterfly snack bags because I loved the bright colors. But there are so many other snacks you could use to make your butterfly treat bags. Here are some other fun ideas:
- Cheerios
- Mini pretzels
- Trix
- Veggie straws
- Cheese puffs
After filling your snack bags, fold over the top of the bags and secure the ends with tape. Then form the wings of the butterfly by separating the cereal on each side. Leave an empty space in the center, which will allow you to slide the clothespin down the middle of the bag.
After adding the clothespin to the center of the treat bag, set the bags aside for a second. Then, take a minute to make the butterfly’s antennae. Grab the pipe cleaners and cut one in half. Fold one half in half again, then wrap each end around a pencil to create curls.
Add the antennae to the butterfly snack by opening the clothespin and sliding it into the top. Then, finish decorating the butterfly snack bag by gluing googly eyes on top and adding a cute smile with a black marker.
And that’s it! These adorable butterfly treat bags are sure to be a big hit this summer! And the best part about these butterfly snacks is that you can use them in so many different ways. Here are a few ideas for fun occasions to make these butterfly treats:
- Summer snacks for parties
- After school snacks
- Lunch box treats
- Snacks for play dates
- A fun summer craft for kids and treat all in one
- Butterfly party favors
- Garden party favors
- Snacks for class parties
- Team snacks
