DIY Teacher Gift Idea: Personalized Cooler With Free Gift Tag

Sharing is caring!

Summer’s almost here! We still have a couple more days of school left in my area, which means we’re getting ready to say good-bye to another great teacher! I love showing my son’s teachers how much we care. They always make such a lasting impact on our lives. This year I made a personalized cooler bag filled with summer essentials for my DIY teacher gift. This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you click a link (at no additional cost to you). This cute gift idea was super easy to make. I personalized a large cooler bag using my Silhouette and some pink vinyl I had on hand. Then, I ran to the store and grabbed a bunch of summer essentials to fill it up. Finally, I created a cute printable gift tag to tie it all together. You can download the gift tag for your own projects, too! Just keep reading to find out how.

To make the vinyl decal, I found these cute ocean cuttable files from Printable Cuttable Creatables. And the best part was — they’re free! The pack comes with three different options, a starfish, a seashell and a sand dollar. I used heat transfer vinyl and a regular household iron to apply it to the cooler bag.

The heat transfer vinyl went on the bag pretty easily. I just applied pressure to the iron in 10-second increments until I had covered the entire design with the hot iron. I placed a thick wooden cutting board inside the bag to add some stiffness underneath as I ironed. A flour sack towel over the top of the design protected the bag from the hot iron.

The bag is filled with tons of summer essentials. I got a cute over-sized beach towel with flip flops on it and placed it in the bottom of the bag to fill it out. Then, I added the rest of the items inside of my DIY teacher gift. After that, I put in a few fun magazines, like Real Simple, Family Circle, and Good Housekeeping.

Next, I found an adorable floral cup and filled with a few different flavors of Crystal Light. Because summer should be filled with refreshing drinks, right? My cup had lemonade, peach tea, and strawberry drink mixes inside of my DIY teacher gift.

The final piece of my DIY teacher gift was adding ingredients for s’mores. Because nothing says summer like ooey, gooey s’mores by the fire! I added a box of graham crackers, a bag of marshmallows, and some Hershey’s chocolate bars to the bag to top it off.

Finally, I tied on my adorable rainbow gift tag that says, “Thanks for being such a COOL TEACHER.” I tied it with a big, bright purple ribbon to add to the bright colors of the DIY teacher gift. Use this free printable gift tag to show your child's teacher how much they care with a fun DIY teacher's gift filled with summer essentials | teacher gift idea | teachers gift idea | teacher appreciation gift idea | DIY gift idea | DIY summer gift #giftidea #gift #DIY #craft

I need to know where I can purchase that exact same acrylics flowered floral cup with handle. It surely would be appreciated. It’s for an elderly woman that loves this cup but hers is cracked.
Thank you very much and wish of you a blessed seasonal holiday.

    1. I purchased this floral cup at Wal-Mart. But that was a few years ago so I’m not sure if they carry this design anymore. I wish I could be more help!
