How to Make a Reindeer With Clothespins
Transform everyday items into an adorable ornament to decorate your tree with this fun Christmas craft!

The first step to making your own reindeer out of clothespins is to create the body for your reindeer. Start by painting the clothespins brown, making sure to coat all the sides of each pin, along with the tops and bottoms.

Allow the paint to dry completely. After that, build the body of the reindeer by gluing one clothespin on top of another clothespin. Flip one of your clothespins upside down and line up the circles on each pin. Then, attach them together with some glue.

Next, glue the eyes to the top of the reindeer’s head. We used small googly eyes for this Christmas craft. Then, attach a button nose under the eyes.

Now it’s time to make your reindeer’s antlers. Bend a brown pipe cleaner in half and create a V shape with the pipe cleaner. Twist the ends around each point of the top clothespin. Then, wrap the ends of the pipe cleaner around a pencil to twist it.

Then, repeat the process with the other side to finish the antlers. You can use a small amount of glue to hold the pipe cleaners in place after you’re done twisting.
Finish by making a loop with a piece of ribbon or twine so you can hang your ornaments on the tree. Cut a length of twine and form a loop. Flip the reindeer ornament over and glue the ends of the twine to the top of the ornament. Allow the glue to dry completely and hang it on the tree.
Tips for Making Clothespin Reindeer
See how simple it is to make your own reindeer ornament out of clothespins? And with these crafting ideas, your kids can have a blast making their own Christmas decorations at home or in the classroom this holiday season.

Making your own Christmas craft using clothespins at home is so simple! What’s so much fun about this cute craft is that kids of any age can make it! Consider these easy tips to create an amazing cinnamon stick reindeer craft at home with your kids this Christmas.
Skip the painting for less mess. If you’re hoping to make this art project without the mess of paint, you’re in luck! Since clothespins are naturally brown, you can skip painting them and just make light brown reindeer instead.
Construct the craft for younger kids. If you have younger kids who will be making this reindeer craft, do the first step for them. Gluing the clothespins together works best with super glue or a hot glue gun. If you’re making this easy craft with young kids, it’s a good idea to form the body of your reindeer first. Then, let your kids decorate the reindeer.
Change up the nose for a different look. You don’t have to use a red button for the nose on this craft. Replace the button with a red pom pom to create a different Rudolph look. Or make all Santa’s reindeer to hang on your Christmas tree by using a black button or pom pom for the rest of the reindeer.
