Dirt and Worms Dessert

You’re going to love just how simple these fun walking desserts are to make! That’s because there’s no special decorating skills needed.

Just grab the pre-made ingredients and start putting these fun desserts together instantly! All you need to make your own walking dirt and worms is:

  • Oreo cookie bags. The key to making these cute individual treats is to use individual bags of mini Oreos. The bags are the perfect size to make a single-serving dessert without the need for bowls or plates!
  • Chocolate pudding cups. While you could prepare the pudding from an instant pudding box, using individual pudding cups is a handy option for making these quick snacks.
  • Whipped cream or Cool Whip. It’s totally optional to add a dollop of whipped cream to the top of your bags, but it does add some extra flavor to your dessert!
  • Gummy worms. Decorate the top of each dessert with a couple of gummy worms to finish off this fun party snack.

How to Make Walking Dirt and Worms

The key to making these easy walking treats is using premade ingredients. That makes them quick and easy to prepare for (or at!) your party.

Start by crushing the cookies inside the bag. This will make it a little easier to eat once you add all the other ingredients. Just use a rolling pin to roll over the top of each bag, crushing the cookies inside.

Then, use scissors to cut the top of each bag. Roll the top of the bag down to help keep the bag open, making it easier to add the rest of your walking dessert ingredients.

Next, open your pudding cup and use a spoon to add the pudding to the Oreo cookie bag. You’ll add the entire cup of pudding to the bag of cookies.

Then, give the pudding a good stir to mix in all those crushed cookies. Stir carefully to keep from spilling the pudding!

The last step to making these fun treats is to add your toppings! First, place a dollop of whipped cream on top of each bag. Then, decorate the dessert with a couple of gummy worms on top.

Dirt and Worms Dessert Bar

These portable desserts are a fun option for any party with kids! And the best part about this easy recipe is that your party guests can make it themselves.

Instead of making these treats and serving them already prepared, try setting up a dirt and worms dessert bar at your party! In addition to providing your party guests with the basic ingredients for dirt and worms, you can set out these other items to allow your guests to create their own fun treats:

  • Fruit pieces, like bananas and strawberries
  • Chopped candy bars
  • Chocolate chips
  • Full-sized Oreo cookies
  • Other gummy candies
  • Different pudding flavors
  • Ice cream
  • Brownie or cake pieces

How Long Does this Dirt and Worms Dessert Last?

Once your walking dirt and worms is prepared, it should be eaten right away. I wouldn’t suggest making the desserts ahead of time or storing them after they’re prepared. The cookies will begin to get soggy the longer the pudding sits inside the bag.
