Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love incorporating fall decor into my home to celebrate the season. The problem with fall is that there are so many reasons to celebrate! That’s why I decided to make this pretty DIY fall farmhouse wreath with a removable bow. Now, I can decorate for fall with a lovely new wreath, but I can change the wreath’s design to suit the season! This simple DIY fall farmhouse wreath is perfect because you can use it in a variety of ways. I started with a fall farmhouse base, but I plan to update the wreath for each holiday and season as the year goes on. With the removable bow and decorative accents, it will be simple to make this wreath into a new wreath for every holiday!
Start With a Good Base
To make this simple DIY fall farmhouse wreath, you’ll need a pretty base wreath to work with. I chose a nice green artificial wreath. This simple wreath will look beautiful no matter what additional decorations I add to it. I think it will look amazing with spring flowers or Christmas tinsel.
Another thing I like about this wreath is that the pretty green leaves are attached to a sturdy grapevine base. That made it super easy to attach my ribbon and decorative picks in a way that they can quickly be removed. Then I can add a new decorative accent later on when the season changes.
Add Decorative Elements
I chose a few different decorative picks to add to the wreath. In addition to a pretty white pumpkin pick with some corn stalks and fall leaves, I also chose a couple beaded picks with fall colors in addition to green beads. That way, the decorative picks will coordinate with the green in the leave, making it a seamless addition.
To finish the decorative addition to my DIY fall farmhouse wreath, I chose a rustic burlap ribbon with a black buffalo check pattern. When choosing a ribbon for your fwreath, I suggest choosing one that is thick and contains a wired edge. That will ensure that your bow not only stands out, but it’s easy to adjust and manipulate until you get it just how you want it.
I made a nice big loopy bow for my DIY fall farmhouse wreath. To make this bow, start by creating a loop for the center. Then create a loop on each side of the center loop, twisting in the middle to ensure that the pattern appears on the top of each loop. Check out this awesome tutorial for a more detailed instruction on how to make a big loopy bow for your DIY farmhouse wreath.
Now it’s time to start attaching everything to the wreath. Start by attaching your floral picks. Lay them out in the way you want them to look on your finished wreath. Then, use a pipe cleaner or floral wire to secure the picks to the wreath. You may need to use a few different pipe cleaners to keep the picks attached to the wreath. Just wrap the pipe cleaner or floral wire under the floral picks and make sure that it’s covered by the decorative elements on top of it.
Make it Removable
Finish your wreath by adding the bow. Next, use another pipe cleaner or floral wire to attach the bow where you want it. Just slip the wire through the bow’s loop and wrap it around the wreath. Then, twist to secure the wire to the wreath. And that’s all you have to do to create this simple DIY fall farmhouse wreath with a removable bow.
