I love finding quick and easy desserts for the holidays. And when it comes to quick and easy, it doesn’t get much better than pudding! It’s a simple, no-bake snack that you can easily decorate, making it perfect for a kid-friendly snack.
On top of being so cute, these fun Easter basket pudding cups couldn’t be simpler to make! All you need are a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of your time to create an adorable spring dessert for your kids.
Easter Pudding Cups
To make these fun Easter pudding desserts, you’ll start with instant chocolate pudding. Then, you can add some fun decorations, like a Peeps, chocolate eggs, and a candy handle for your basket.

To make this easy pudding Easter basket, you’ll need:
- Chocolate pudding. To make this dessert quick and easy, I suggest using instant chocolate pudding. This will speed up the prep time and make this Easter dessert so much easier to put together.
- Milk. If you’re using instant pudding, you’ll also need milk to prepare the dessert. Follow the instructions on the package to prepare your chocolate pudding.
- Cool Whip. Add some extra flavor to your pudding cups with the help of Cool Whip or your favorite brand of whipped topping.
- Oreos. To turn your plain pudding into dirt cups, you’ll need crushed Oreos. To prepare your Oreos for your pudding cups, place them in a zip-top bag and roll over the bag with a rolling pin. This is a quick and easy way to crush your chocolate sandwich cookies.
- Easter candy and sprinkles. Transform your plain pudding cups into cute Easter baskets with the help of some fun spring decorations. I used Easter bunny sprinkles from Walmart, along with bunny Peeps and Cadbury chocolate eggs.
- Sweet Tart ropes. To make your plain cups into baskets, you’ll also need a handle! I used Sweet Tart ropes to make the handles for my pudding cup baskets. Keep reading to see some other ideas you could use for your own pudding desserts.
How to Make Easter Pudding Cups
This decorated dessert is quick and easy to make. Just follow the instructions for making the pudding and adding the decorations on top.

The first step to creating this easy Easter dessert is to prepare the pudding. Follow the instructions on the package of pudding to get it ready to be added to the cups. I used instant chocolate pudding in my dessert, which required two cups of milk. Just add the milk to the pudding and whisk until it’s well combined.

Your instant pudding will need to rest for around five minutes to give it time to thicken up. After that, you can mix the Cool Whip into the chocolate pudding.

While the pudding is thickening, take those minutes to get your Oreos ready. Place all the cookies in a large zip-top bag and seal the bag. Use a rolling pin to roll over the top of the bag, crushing the cookies. Your cookies don’t need to be fully crushed, just crumbly.
After crushing your cookies, pour them into the bowl with the pudding mixture and stir until everything is well combined.

Spoon the Oreo pudding into your cups. I used 4-ounce mason jars to make my pudding Easter baskets, but you can also use plastic cups to make your own treats.
How to Decorate Easter Pudding Cups
Now that you have your dirt cup desserts prepared, it’s time to have some fun decorating your treats! Follow these instructions to turn your dirt cups into adorable Easter baskets.

To make your Easter baskets, you’ll need to start with some “grass.” I used spring sprinkles to create the look of Easter grass on top of my pudding. In addition to these sprinkles, you can also use:
- Green, yellow, or pink sprinkles
- Coconut mixed with green, yellow or pink food coloring
- Green icing piped on top
- Crushed Oreos

Once you have your Easter grass sprinkled on top of the pudding, it’s time to add the candy. To decorate my desserts, I used one bunny Peep and three Cadbury eggs. You could also use:
- Spring M&Ms
- Jelly beans
- Chick Peeps
- Chocolate bunnies
- Robin Eggs
- Annie’s Bunny Grahams
- Cadbury Creme Eggs

Finish decorating your basket pudding cups with a handle. The handles on my baskets were made with rainbow Sweet Tart ropes. You could also use
- Licourice
- Sour straws
- Jolly Rancher ropes
- Air Head ropes
- Sour belts
- Nerds ropes

These Easter dirt cups are so simple to make, which means you can easily change up the recipe to make them your own! Try these Halloween dessert ideas to create a cute and delicious treat for the kids at your party.
- Make gluten free dirt cups. Now that Oreo has released a gluten free version of their cookies, you can make your own gluten free dirt cups. Simply substitute traditional Oreo cookies for gluten free ones when making your pudding cups. And while the Peeps and Cadbury eggs are gluten free, you’ll need to find a safe replacement for the Sweet Tart ropes, which contain wheat.
- Use pudding cups. You don’t need to make your own pudding to create these easy treats! Simply remove the top from a pudding cup and add the Easter decorations on top for a quick and easy treat.
How Far in Advance Can I Make Easter Pudding Cups?
These Halloween desserts can be made up to one day in advance, making them perfect for a party! To get your dirt cups ready ahead of time, start by mixing the pudding and Oreos, then transferring the mixture to your serving cups.
Once you have your dirt cups ready, store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve them.
While you can prepare the pudding cups ahead of time, I would suggest waiting to decorate your Easter baskets until you’re ready to serve your desserts. The Sweet Tart Ropes and Peeps will harden the longer they’re stored in the refrigerator.
