Christmas Charcuterie Skewers
You’re going to love how quick and easy these meat and cheese Christmas trees come together. That means they’re probably going to become your go-to appetizer for all your holiday parties.
But my favorite part about this simple recipe is how easy it is to customize! To make the meat and cheese skewers like mine, you’ll need:
- Cheddar cheese. I purchased a block of cheddar cheese and cut it into cubes and stars for my appetizer picks, but you can use any type of cheese you want for your own bites!
- Salami and pepperoni. Get large slices of salami and pepperoni from the deli for the best presentation. Large slices cut thinly make it easy to fold the meat into ruffles to create your Christmas trees.
- Small star cookie cutter. Decorate the top of your Christmas tree snacks with a cheese star. You’ll need a small star shaped cookie cutter for this step of the recipe.
- Toothpicks. Use toothpicks or other appetizer picks to hold all your charcuterie skewer ingredients together.
How to Make Christmas Charcuterie Skewers
Putting these individually sized appetizers together couldn’t be easier! Just follow these quick and easy steps for folding and stacking your Christmas tree snacks.
Start by preparing the cheese. First, cut the cheese into a slice around 1/2 inch thick. After that, press the star cookie cutter into the slice to cut out your star shapes. Set them aside while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
After that, cut your remaining cheese into 1/2 inch cubes to form the trunk of your meat and cheese Christmas trees.
Place a toothpick into the center of each of the cheese cubes. Make sure the toothpick sticks up enough to hold three slices of meat and the cheese star on top.
To create the tree with your salami and pepperoni slices, start by folding the slice in half to form a semi-circle. Then, fold the slice in half one more time to form a wedge shape.
Slide the folded piece of cheese onto the toothpick over the top of the cheese cube. Lightly spread the folds apart to separate the layers of the meat.
Repeat the process of folding the meat and place two more slices of meat on top of the salami. You’ll end up with three total slices on each Christmas tree.
Finish by carefully placing the cheese star on top of the stack to decorate the top of your charcuterie Christmas tree!

- Crackers. Adding a variety of crackers to your charcuterie board is a great way to balance out the meat and cheese in your Christmas skewers.
- Pickled vegetables. Add some salty snacks to your board along with the meat and cheese by decorating the spread with pickled vegetables, like pickles, olives, and peppers.
- Fresh herbs. Give your charcuterie board a festive holiday look by adding some “greenery” around your snacks. Springs of fresh rosemary, basil, parsley, and thyme are all great ways to decorate your board and add a delicious scent to the spread.
- Other meats and cheeses. In addition to your meat and cheese trees, you can also offer your guests an assortment of meats and cheeses to snack on at the party.
- Spreads. Including some savory spreads along with the snacks is another simple way to add some variety to your charcuterie board. Try adding a cheese ball, pate, or cheese spread to the board with the rest of your snacks.
- Dried fruits. Add some sweetness and a pop of color to your Christmas charcuterie by mixing in some dried fruits, like cranberries, raisins, pineapple, or banana chips.
- Jellies and jams. Balance out the salty flavors of the meat and cheese with the help of some jellies and jams on your board. Fruit spread also make a great complement to the meats and cheeses.
- Nuts. Your guests will love the addition of nuts to your board. They’re a great way to fill in gaps around the other ingredients and they give your party guests something small to snack on.
